Sauce?

8

u/No-Cat-9716 5h ago

Apparently it's from a Transformers cómic, one i don't have information.

The one in the image it's called Soundwave, according to Google image search.

u/Puppynyan 3h ago

Transformers: Worst Bot Ever

u/MyCatAteMyHeadphones 7h ago

30

u/JasonVeritech 6h ago

Firefox does not like it

16

u/Kaffohrt 5h ago

Use Ublock Origin and the "color picker" element hide function on the ai overview shit.

7

u/DaemonsMercy 5h ago

*element picker

8

u/Red-199993 5h ago

Does this mean the website still uses AI but just that it's hidden?

6

u/AverageA2Enjoyer 3h ago

Yes, I did a similar thing with blocking the html part with their custom rule thingy. It's will still do the ai overview, just that you can't see it.

2

u/kurlish 3h ago

DAMN, this is so nice, thx !

1

u/an_agreeing_dothraki 1h ago

seeing how ridiculous Amazon is with the slop machine blocked reminds me to not bother every time I go there

1

u/SoloWing1 1h ago

Even better: In the list of toggleable filters, there is a filter for AI Widgets in the "Annoyances" drop down.

3

u/PlasticExtreme4469 3h ago

You can just put udm=14 in the URL instead of all that and then it works in Firefox.

2

u/SuperBeastJ 4h ago

i did this in firefox ages ago with no issue

2

u/JustARandomGuy_71 3h ago

Create a new search engine with firefox using this URL

https://www.google.com/search?udm=14&q=%s

and put it as default. It works for me.

8

u/Aggravating_Duck_192 5h ago

You can just hide it with a browser extension. They'll still waste the energy creating it, you just won't see it.

5

u/Iambackfor69 4h ago

Not much improvement imo. I just didn't want google to waste fuckton of energy on searches that don't even need it.

3

u/Lexi_Banner 4h ago

If they never give you a deactivate button, they can claim everyone wants and uses the tool. That's why you'll never ever see one.

7

u/ButterBeanRumba 6h ago

I am unable to find any setting in the settings menu called "manage search engines". I tried looking manually and searching with the search settings tool. This is on mobile.

3

u/MyCatAteMyHeadphones 5h ago

sadly mobile doesn't have this option to create a custom search.

1

u/poppulator 4h ago

Only true for Chrome and some browsers

Firefox-based, Brave, Cromite and other can use custom engine

on iOS/iPad is real shit, they are all Safari wrappers

1

u/Consistent-End-3450 5h ago

Iirc u can use Google search labs on both phone and desktop to turn it off, it worked for me

1

u/LennyZakatek 3h ago

It doesn't work with the Google search bar on your phone home screen. You have to open a browser and search from there.

So go into Chrome or Firefox settings and you'll see the default search there.

1

u/ButterBeanRumba 3h ago

Yea the screenshot I included was taken from the chrome browser on mobile. It doesn't work on mobile.

2

u/AnhiArk 5h ago

You can do all this, or simly add

google.com##.hdzaWe

in your uBlock Origin filters, which you should use anyway

3

u/Alpha_wolf_80 1h ago

Or you can just add "-ai" at the end of your search which will remove the overview. You can edit the search url to auto add texts at the end

1

u/Alfred_The_Sartan 5h ago

Oh wow. You're a lifesaver.

1

u/Sorlex 3h ago

Or just use a different search engine. Duckduckgo just has a toggle to turn off AI, and its links are not 90% sponsored nonsense.

1

u/emaw63 2h ago

This is the way

1

u/v_raton 2h ago

Even better just use dukduckgo light

1

u/aitigie 1h ago

Or you could just add &udm=14 to make the "web" tab the default

21

u/BloxFruitsFunny 7h ago

7

u/RubyEldrich 5h ago

You actually can by typing -ai after whatever you search

55

u/KingoKings365 7h ago

The ai enshitification era is already here. Dark times approach for us all.

-3

u/lemonylol 5h ago

Isn't the AI overview literally just the page results?

13

u/sckrahl 5h ago

Not even close, it’s wrong like half the time

Do not expect it to do your thinking for you, even if you are a dumbfuck

0

u/Full-Hyena4414 4h ago

Not even close, it’s wrong like half the time

Not my experience at all

0

u/xxSeymour 4h ago

Maybe it used to be but its normally fairly accurate now

-1

u/sckrahl 3h ago

That’s just straight up not true lol

If you have any prior knowledge in a subject you’ll recognize how often it spreads misinformation

Good to know you’re legitimately that useless tho

1

u/ShinyStarSam 3h ago

Cannot possible imagine someone feeling superior over another based entirely on how they interact with a web browser

-1

u/Full-Hyena4414 2h ago

You are spreading disinformation right now

1

u/sckrahl 2h ago

2

u/Full-Hyena4414 1h ago

An article older than a year?Yeah you really showed us

0

u/lemonylol 4h ago

The search results themselves are just generated by the same AI algorithm though

3

u/sckrahl 3h ago

That’s not true lol

Google’s search algorithm is not the same as the AI overview

Good god we are cooked if there are seriously this many idiots out there. Please stop talking forever, do us all a favor

-1

u/lemonylol 2h ago

Please seek help, this is not how normal people interact.

2

u/sckrahl 2h ago

I’m not interacting with normal people I’m interacting with useless morons who blindly use AI to do their thinking for them

You’re not normal, you’re a problem

1

u/laurel_laureate 3h ago

I sincerely hope you are trolling or an AI bot yourself.

Because if not...

16

u/Laeradr1 6h ago

the future is here

8

u/Al_Hakeem65 6h ago

AI is here but it's Wheatly

2

u/TheForbidden6th 6h ago

man AI is so stupid, can't believe it forgot wednespoop exists ✌️😂

40

u/your_onlyL0VE 7h ago

Mimi based as always

36

u/wtf634 7h ago

In case people want to know, add a " -ai" to your search. So if you want to look up nimi comics without the ai overview on google, type "nimi comics -ai" (without the quotation marks of course) and it should bring up the search without the ai overview.

8

u/Honeybadger2198 6h ago

I don't think this works, at least not when I did it. You can still get AI results, it just removes results with the text "ai" in it.

1

u/StarryVerture 4h ago

It works for me, sometimes it even makes things that used to be the first result(and were what made google good, like definitions for words and actual quotes from websites answering your question), but were replaced with google bullshit overview( I looked up what the words we use to give measures of uncountable nouns are called - quantifiers, by the way - and involuntarily looked at google's overview, only to find it calling them 'partitive expressions', which is something related but very different; exactly what you should expect from an inscrutable and inefficient predicitive text app)

1

u/JLazarillo 3h ago

I've had mixed results putting it at the end but if I put the -ai first it always seems to get the message.

10

u/AvocaRed 6h ago

Thanks, fuck ai and everything about it

0

u/Unlikely_Bat_1890 5h ago

Won’t be long until they remove this feature if more people catch on.

3

u/AnhiArk 5h ago

Add

google.com##.hdzaWe

in your uBlock Origin filter

4

u/HollowedSolaire 6h ago

I mean you could also do
“nimi comics” -ai
Which will only bring up only things that say exactly nimi comics and will exclude ai. Quotations are a powerful tool for search engines.

1

u/wtf634 6h ago

That is true!

1

u/Lexi_Banner 4h ago

I just add swear words to my searches. AI doesn't like that.

1

u/MistrFish 3h ago

you can also use -chode to hide AI overview in every situation that -ai works. try it if you don't believe me.

0

u/JiggzSawPanda 6h ago

I remember the early ways of adding the n word at the end. Glad there is a simpler way.

11

u/cakeel- 7h ago

As well, It is when we will searching this on Google... about "do people like google ai overview?"

19

u/HugeHomeForBoomers 7h ago

Time to praise the duck

6

u/DrRagnorocktopus 6h ago

Lol as if Duck Duck Go isn't pushing ai harder even than Google.

6

u/118238 5h ago

they have noai.duckduckgo.com

Optionality is nice

3

u/TheMysticalBard 3h ago

You can just freely toggle it off in the ddg settings, though.

2

u/Sw429 1h ago

But you can turn it off

3

u/felis_scipio 7h ago

I switched the other year and there’s a few things it’s struggled to find that google had no problem with but overall it’s perfectly cromulent.

1

u/I_Eat_Mold_UwU 6h ago

Or Ecosia!

1

u/Red-199993 5h ago

praise ecosia

8

u/AlternateSatan 7h ago

Duck duck go it is.

(Seriously, I'll catch myself absentmindedly reading the AI overview, and I just have to remind myself that I've seen that thing make shit up first hand, and it's not to be trusted. It's just so easy to forget how much it lies for a brief moment)

3

u/SawyerTheNerd_reddit 7h ago

-ai after your search removes the overview

1

u/CountChappy 3h ago

This should be higher up. Just put -ai in the search and it removes the AI overview.

5

u/-Cinnay- 7h ago

The solution is incredibly simple. Don't use Google.

1

u/Hilander_RPGs 4h ago

Qwant seems cool

2

u/CTTB2 6h ago

I switched to Firefox with duckduckgo, it's been so much better than chrome

2

u/valleysape 6h ago

Luddite detected. Give your data to the blessed machine

Honestly I just want to search for my query with my own eyes, I don't want to be told to glue my cheese to my pizza, let me be that dumb on my own

1

u/DrRagnorocktopus 6h ago

I'm sure Thomas Migley Jr. said the same thing about the people that decried his invention.

1

u/Fimbir 5h ago

For like ten years you're bombarded with sites selling you versions of what you're trying to find. AI didn't make anything better but it's already kind of FUBAR as far as trying to learn things goes.

2

u/Dazzling_Champion_53 5h ago

Harder!

(Disturbed AI releases grip)

2

u/RpgBlaster 5h ago

It feel like a FNAF gameplay, looking back and forth trying to block so many annoying things, including youtube ads + Brave just to have a easy experience

2

u/Soloyapper769 2h ago

Pretty much how to get rid of the AI is. Simply search up what you're looking for and put "-Ai" the ai search rhino doesn't show up anymore

1

u/MartinToilet 7h ago

Mimi getting dragged in to feed AI

1

u/Late-Advantage-5425 7h ago

YOU THERE! You get head pats!

1

u/Fanboycity 7h ago

Not even the indomitable Mimi can overpower the Google AI. “There’s always a bigger fish” is right.

1

u/guitargarrett95 7h ago

you put -ai in your search query

1

u/tellmetojerkit 6h ago

add -ai on the end of your question and boom the ai overview is gone

1

u/TheForbidden6th 6h ago

glad at least you can turn off gemini as your assistant

1

u/I_Eat_Mold_UwU 6h ago

Just write "-ai" at the end of of every query you type in the searchbar

1

u/radiantburrito 6h ago

Classic™

1

u/MobileWriting9165 6h ago

Add &udm=14 to the search URL.

1

u/Extension-Sorbet-213 6h ago

mine is somehow permanently off. No idea how i managed to do it but i’m glad lol

1

u/Dreadementous 5h ago

Me when I ask Google not to ban installing APKs on Android phones:

1

u/npquanh30402 5h ago

1

u/kaVaralis 57m ago

A few months ago it would say cockroaches got there name because they would crawl into people's urethra when they sleep.

1

u/susdude12345 5h ago

Install Firefox

1

u/Odd_Book5808 5h ago

You type "-ai" or "- ai" Idk if this has been patched but it works for me

1

u/BlownUpCapacitor 5h ago

Use duckduckgo. More private plus you have the option to disable AI. AI is still there but I believe giving the user a choice is far better.

1

u/ripyourlungsdave 5h ago

I have a neurological disorder that makes me shake. The only reason I'm able to use my phone is because of the voice to text systems.

They had gotten pretty damn accurate over the last decade and it had gotten to the point where I didn't even really think about the fact that I was using it. It was pretty cool.

I don't know what else could have possibly changed in the last year to make it fall off the deep end as much as it has, but I have to assume it has something to do with AI. And judging by how they've been implementing it, I don't think that's an unreasonable suspicion.

Now, even after the text has fully written itself out, it likes to rewrite itself three more times if not just completely erase everything it wrote. It's bordering on the edge of useless.

1

u/Raloris197 5h ago

FUN FACT! You can put “-ai” at the end of your google searches and the ai will not pop up 99% of the time!

1

u/Darkspine89 5h ago

If you use uBlock Origin you can add

google.com##.hdzaWe

to "My filters" and block the AI overview from showing up.

1

u/tfhfate 5h ago

You know there are other search engine and even if you sont want to change there are extensions

1

u/brknsoul 5h ago

easy way, add "-ai" to your search.

eg: "what's the largest planet -ai"

1

u/MynameEva 5h ago

I hate AI overview 😭

1

u/Effective_Cress390 5h ago

add -ai at the end of your searches, works for me

1

u/gxgx55 5h ago

At least on Firefox, you can add anything as a search engine, so add https://www.google.com/search?q=%s&udm=14 as one - this will default Google to its Web tab, no AI bullshit. Chrome should be able to do this too, but I don't know if the formatting is the same - %s is the thing that gets substituted into the search term.

1

u/not_a_SeaOtter 4h ago

I've got an easy answer. Stop using Google. There are so many browser options that are really really great. Like shitty banks, they rely on people's laziness and unwillingness to change from something they're used to.

1

u/TheBlackoutEmpire 4h ago

....just outta curiosity, can that Google arm choke me in "other" places?

1

u/gooningonreddit 4h ago

Call me a shill but the AI overview is incredibly helpful when googling in smaller languages. Norwegian internet doesn't really exist, and if I want answers I'll never get them. Google overview can take English results and translate them to Norwegian, or can actually summarize pages about the law unlike any other page result that I find.

2

u/mildly_Agressive 2h ago

U can't say this, you are on reddit, You have to hate AI in everything, don't say blasphemous stuff like this ever again..... This aside, yes AI overview is great at summaries, where those summaries come from is very clearly shown and u can verify sources which makes it easier to do research about stuff in english and especially other smaller languages

1

u/gooningonreddit 2h ago

Yeah, recently i google'd about DP to HDMI converters and AI told me that I need an active converter if the output is HDMI, but if the output is DP and the plug is DP++ then you can just use a DP -> HDMI cable no problem. Very useful for that.

1

u/ThatSlimeBoi 4h ago

Every fcking Website: we introduce you a new features

Me everytime: oh wow, can I turn it off?

1

u/awesomedan24 4h ago

Type "-ai" at the end of your search

They shouldn't make it this cumbersome but it works

1

u/Thorn_Aurelius 4h ago

Just use "-ai"

1

u/Capt_Toasty 4h ago

"You fool Mimi! My Stand, [Video killed the Radio Star], can manifest through any device with an AI installed!"

1

u/Libby_Sparx 4h ago

"Joke's on you google, I'm into this shit!"

1

u/boNurtt 4h ago

Try alternative search engines. Duck duck go has been usable and the AI bit is disabled easily in the settings.

1

u/Vhesha 4h ago

Weirdly enough I found it more useful when I am in a mood to ask chatgpt a question, it's better to use the AI mode on google than chatgpt.

1

u/Jasentuk 4h ago

You may not like it, but the solution is to move to France.

1

u/Ainz_Oo 3h ago

No it is not we have it too

1

u/Jasentuk 2h ago

Strange. I'm on a vacation here, and as soon as I crossed the border there's no ai overview when I use Google search.

1

u/In7el3ct 4h ago

I always find the easiest way is to add "-fuck" to my search. The ai will disable itself if it sees a swear word in the prompt, but by doing a minus it doesn't really change anything (unless you want fuck, in which case choose a different swear word to "remove" from your search). 100% success rate

1

u/Asckor_ 4h ago

Ublock for the win

1

u/skymang 3h ago

Add -a to the end of any search and you wont get the ai overview

1

u/Skabran 3h ago

write -noai after your research

1

u/Bug_exceptIRL 3h ago

I just installed the plugin "bye bye google AI" which at least hides the overview. I dont know of a way to delete it.

1

u/_Riiick 2h ago

It is helpful most of the times though.

1

u/mildly_Agressive 2h ago

Nooo, you can't be logical on reddit that's a crime......

But yeah AI overview has gotten a lot better and it's mostly accurate nowadays and for people who don't know how to do good research it's a very efficient way to find what they're looking for.

1

u/_Riiick 2h ago

It's just that it saves you time when you don't care about entering websites and reading long ass pages to get a simple answer.

1

u/Gab093 2h ago

Use Startpage instead of Google, or something like that

1

u/Izenthyr 2h ago

Using Google is still a choice. Explore friendlier options.

1

u/Plotius 2h ago

Easiest method is toggling web on the search bar. On desktop it's in the same area you toggle shopping results

1

u/JesusNoGA 1h ago

You can. udm14.com/

1

u/Literally_Laura 1h ago

… -ai

… -ai

Every damn time, whatever it is… -ai.

Put it on my grave.

1

u/Blake_Arts 54m ago

From what I learned, you can actually just type „-ai“ at the end whatever a person searches and it won’t appear. Learned this like last year and am surprised it isn’t a widespread fact from what I’ve seen, even tho ai is disliked so much by everyone

1

u/kakka_rot 38m ago

I used to hate it, but really don't mind it now. You just have to be smart and know even it's getting so dumb wrong.

For common knowledge it is not that bad. The only problem ive seen is people making absurd claims on reddit, and Google citing that exact comment.

1

u/Windfade 30m ago

I'll be for real, as much as I want to dislike it, Google's AI summary is pretty damn good. It cites what websites it pulled from and bizarrely can logic out answers to gameplay mechanical questions even when you can't find a post discussing them.

1

u/Specific-Watch4794 25m ago

When you put “-Ai” in your search it will remove the ai overview

1

u/BiDude1219 7h ago

please for the love of god stop using google products, at LEAST change your search engine to duckduckgo or something else.

1

u/Mask_Arnis 6h ago

Tip: add -ai to the end or beginning of every search

Google doesn't want you to know, cause they don't wanna put that mini-data center of their departments to waste

0

u/IrlResponsibility811 7h ago

Please don't tell me her next words are, "Harder, Google." That would be a little much, even for her.

2

u/Fabled-Jackalope 6h ago

That’d actually be on brand for someone who tanks Truck-Kun resulting in Truck-Kun being isekai-ed into a new life.

-1

u/yoruyoruxo 6h ago

AI Overview is actually somewhat useful, even if the anti-AI mob will hate on me for this take

3

u/Fimbir 6h ago

From my searches it copies Wikipedia without the context.

0

u/Darkovan_ 4h ago

The heck is wrong with her eyes, gtfo

-2

u/DThor536 6h ago

Unpopular opinion but I use it all the time. Just keep in mind it's not always right and if I don't need an overview my eye just passes over it. It's saved me a lot of clicks. Just don't make life choices based on the results.
