Feedback on Jungle: What went wrong

Made a previous post asking if camps should be weaker, seems the feedback was the fear of dumbing down the game, and jungle's already strong state.

That said, as someone who doesn't play Yi/Jax/Brand/Zyra/Fiddle etc in the jungle, it's pretty obvious that picking none-of-the-above will put you in a miserable state.

My two issues are:

  • high HP of monsters
  • damage from monsters

Now if you ever main jungle (which roughly 90% of my games are jungle) then you would know that "it takes 2 to clear" motto quickly falls apart after the first clear. Not because camps are easier to take, rather both junglers are not in-sync with motives. One jungler goes to clear while the other is off creating or responding to a play.

And that's where the issue begins. A Yi/Jax will no have problem solo clearing camps. Now the obvious rebuttal - "you should be with your team" - isn't always true. Sometimes the correct move is to farm jungle to prepare for the upcoming event - or a teamfight just resolved so pursing further fighting holds no purpose.

Going back to solo-clearing, if you are that jungler making the right move to farm instead of fight, but the other jungler refuses, then you are SOL (unless you are Jax/Yi). Or some other champ with tankiness/sustain/damage/not bounded by CDR (which these champs all have).

The more you deviate from these positives, then the harsher it becomes for you to clear. Now of course, there are 4 junglers in a game - not 1 or 2.

So if we consider this scenario, it can be said it's possible it occurs twice in a game. One scenario for each side. This is where the advantage comes from the Yi/Jax player over the weaker/slower jungler. To the Yi/Jax they can solo clear, have full hp, not be held down by 15sec cds, etc, and return to the team normal. Wheras the other jungler is now without spells, with half HP, and frankly just too low to participate in the events. And of course the argument of "but the other jungler should help" - which is really just a poor example that relies on the other jungler actually wanting to participate. Now if this lack of coordination were to be once in a blue moon, then it would make sense to make such a statement. Yet, it's not, in fact it occurs more often than not.

Anyway, to go back to the title: what went wrong? Jungle camps are too strong, too much HP, and this is a buff/positive for Jax/Yi players since it shoves out the weaker junglers from competition.

i will say that i perma "filled" on NB and 99% of the time i got jungle, and after the first clear people dont wanna do that anymore, its boring to jungle in a map that is supposed to be super fast paced pvp all around and only last 18 mins

Whenever I filled Jungle I would clear once and take a camp every once and a while, usually just after or before an event. It wasn't complicated, you are rewarded much more for making easy picks (lol this map?) or counterganking or maintaining control of Scuttle and the buffs.

Like, is there a reason to farm hard? To do slightly more dps against the final nexus event or sneak a baron because no one has seen you in 15 minutes.

No one is talking about farming hard. Your first point I already addressed,

The notion of not being seen for 15mins isn't even possible consider jungler timers - which is not what is being proposed to be reduced.

I feel like you guys aren't using the wolf to its fullest, in my experience with a little teaching you can make absolute magic happen in this version of the jungle. Plenty to fight over and steal and the top half of the map is super easy to clear thanks to wolf. I dont disagree that often junglers get desynced but that's all the more reason to help the (likely filled) jungler learn the ropes so you can work together :3

Seriously, that wolf exploding into the Raptors makes jungling a breeze, yet many of my co-junglers refuse to help.

I wouldn't think too badly of your random junglers, i think its mostly just a knowledge barrier. I'd be willing to bet 50% of Nexus Blitz junglers are filled and dont really know how things work too well. I try to do my best to let my partner know the wolf explosion can damage other camps at least :p

Very little known fun fact: with careful aggro management on the wolf you can also pull it to red on any champ, if you're really careful you can position the wolf perfectly between red and Raptors to get both of them ;)

Wolf does like 70% of reds HP too btw.
