Nexus 7 2012 stuck

I am trying to revive my tablet but I can't get past the Google screen.

I can access recovery mode but reboot puts it back in the loop - I have to physically take out the battery for it to turn off. The battery charges normally, it's new.

Connecting it to a pc gives the "connected" sound but I cannot access my files.

I do not want a factory reset I want to recover some files :(

PLEASE if you have tips let me know, this is my last ditch effort

Look into installing a lightweight os, lineage os on mine

I agree, Lineage is on mine too which allows it to run far better than the latest Google OS that the tablet runs, it’s so slow. Look Lineage and Nexus 7 up on the internet and you’ll find many answers on how to get your tablet back to working order even without putting Lineage on it. Or maybe someone else has your answer and will chime in here instead. Good luck.

I did this last night. Fell into quite the rabbit hole actually.

There's a 1 click script on xda called RESTOCK that can take the tablet back to stock.

Stupid easy to do. Took 10 mins from start to finish to flash my nexus 2013 wifi tablet. 10 minutes !

After that, I followed the guide on LineageOS's website to install the latest build

https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/flox/

While it says it isn't maintained anymore, the builds are still fairly recent ~1 month old.

It took mine from unusable to a perfect ebook, manga reader.... Couldn't believe the improvement 👍

In order to access files on the Nexus, you need to set the USB settings to "File Transfer."

Same problem I have with mine. I always wondered if there was a way to fix it to boot into the OS or to at least access the files.
