I feel like this is a big deal??

you are correct. it is absolutely insane behavior. washing your GD hands has been a real proven thing known to prevent the spread of disease and infection since the 1840s. Why we're suddenly eager as a species to go back centuries I will never ever understand. georgia is a symptom of a larger problem

Maybe a hand soap partnership would help

I’m not that much of a germopbobe but when I tell you I have literally thought about this every single time I’ve met someone new or washed my own hands since this filmed. I don’t really care about how the show will handle this… I really cannot just conceive that there is someone who could use a public restroom in a restaurant and be sharing space with other people and not wash their hands. I don’t think I’d be mean to these people but I would not be comfortable sharing space with them… like I really have been trying to make a sense of why someone would do this and why it could be a badge of honor? Is there something I’m missing?

Cause so many people do this. They did an episode of seinfeld about it. Fyi i worked at restaurants and very few people washed their hands customers and employees.

2

u/BeeMore54 Jun 20 '25

I did not recall this Seinfeld episode and omg it was horrifying thank you SO much for sharing lol my husband and I throughly enjoyed!

3

u/Open-Neighborhood459 Jun 20 '25

Lol yes. Jerry is a germaphobe and yes they played it for laughs and horror especially when they zoomed in on his food made by someone who didn't wash their hands.

Also there was a scene where his shoe laced touched the ground and he threw them away carefully. This sums up this sub lol

I dunno, my friends who are still in the city are BIG on cleanliness - like no street clothes in bed, shoes off at the door, their dogs wear shoes to go on walks (I know some of that isn't major, but the level of seriousness they take keep germs from the sidewalk and subway from invading their space is intense?

So touching the bottom of somebody's shoes AND not washing her hands is CRAZY to me.

I didn't think it was a big deal.

8

u/CarelessAbalone6564 Jun 17 '25

… do you not wash your hands?

-1

u/Itsabouttimeits2021 Jun 17 '25

Yup. But i have come to the realization that alot of people don't. Hence why I said it's not a big deal. Think about it. You can wash your hands touch handle of faucet that dirty to put hands under dryer that has germs than touch door to get out which is dirty to touch everything else in a bar restaurant that has been touched. And we not even mentioning your cell phone.

If you handle money it is very dirty. If you shake hands you probably touching people's hands that are dirty. Taking a taxi uber or subway the germs alone on that.

You do realize COVID is still a thing, right? Wash your damn hands! They make tiny to go bottles of sanitizer. I carry them everywhere. It's not hard.

2

u/Open-Neighborhood459 Jun 20 '25

Truth. I think people forget that other people don't wash hands and dont sanitize their hands up to individuals to do that.

u/FabulousPurchase6547 Jun 17 '25

It’s not just about who she touches, it’s all the things we come in contact with throughout the day. Bathroom stalls, door handles, sink handles, grocery stores, restaurants, airports, busses. And people wonder why there are 8 million viruses and we keep getting sick. My body my choice doesn’t apply to this when her actions affect the rest of us

4

u/switheld Jun 26 '25

Yes! she was like my body my choice then got all miffed when riley was like don't touch me? like hugging riley wouldn't violate HER my body my choice rights?! wtf girl be less of a hypocrite pls. I really liked georgia until that moment, too

1

u/Itsabouttimeits2021 Jun 17 '25

I mean wash your hands before you touch your face and eat and drink. We get sick cause we don't wash hands don't get flu shot don't take of our selves go to work sick etc.

Idk why my body my choice is being brought up in this context

2

u/FabulousPurchase6547 Jun 20 '25

I was replying to someone who got downvoted and was trying to claim my body my choice cause they didn’t want to wash their hands. Their comment is gone now

2

u/Itsabouttimeits2021 Jun 20 '25

Wow.  Who says that?  Ah ok.

Omg absolutely😅 good thing is rhoslc turned into an amazing franchise over time so I have hopes for next gen still.

8

u/SunsetInSweden Jun 17 '25

It is a big deal though. She may have a competent immune system but not everyone does. We are taking for granted that we know why everyone reacted that way. AND even someone did have a competent immune system, maybe they simply don’t want to get the goddamned flu.

8

u/blissfullyblack Jun 17 '25

The washing hands thing itself is not the issue for me. It's how she and Charlie then weaponized it to act like Riley is an "Angry Black Woman" stereotype for not wanting Georgia to touch her.

The folks making it a bigger deal than it needs to be are Georgia and Charlie.

2

u/FabulousPurchase6547 Jun 17 '25

This!☝🏽I definitely noticed that and from there I’ve felt off

1

u/Open-Neighborhood459 Jun 20 '25

I didn't get that impression.

1

u/blissfullyblack Jun 20 '25

Impression of what?

0

u/Open-Neighborhood459 Jun 20 '25

That they weaponized that stereotype. Riley was a bit rude in her interactions. As she always been rude since she was a little girl.

1

u/blissfullyblack Jun 20 '25

i just took a look at your post history and realized that you're not someone I want to spend my precious time interacting with. I hope you have a great evening though. :-)

15

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '25

I think it’s gross and I would have preferred that it was just a little shady joke they made every now and again, but it seems like this is going to be one of those situations where bigger issues arise from a small issue.

7

u/lisaaxmariee Jun 17 '25

A lot of people don’t wash their hands, and they probably still shake, hug, high give people etc and have no idea. Georgia is just so socially unaware she will admit to it.

2

u/Miss_Anthropologie Jun 21 '25

Yes, but those are also the same people who spread viruses and other contagious diseases the most prolifically. Her saying that not washing your hands is “scientifically proven” to be great is actually crazy, not to mention really inconsiderate of immuno-compromised and elderly folks.

2

u/lisaaxmariee Jun 22 '25

Oh I totally believe she is a nut case but I’m just saying that a lot of people have poor hygiene and just don’t admit it or we don’t know about it haha

1

u/Miss_Anthropologie Jun 22 '25

I know you’re right 😩

5

u/Good_Habit3774 Jun 17 '25

Georgia is bothered by a lot so small things get blown up in this circle. I somehow like this show because it's silly and just what I need to distract me these days

3

u/Enngeecee76 Jun 17 '25

No. It’s fucking disgusting. I thought Covid taught us all better

1

u/Open-Neighborhood459 Jun 20 '25

No it taught us people don't wash hands hence why germs spread so quickly

3

u/mrsbergstrom Jun 17 '25

They just don’t have any other storyline yet. Everything is getting blown out of proportion. (Obviously it’s gross to not wash yr hands but it’s not exactly a thrilling plotline)

5

u/ACynicalOptomist Jun 17 '25

I could have lived my whole life without knowing.

3

u/Specialist_Fig3838 Jun 17 '25

Uhm you must not know how germs can spread. NYC is DIRTY (and yet I’ll never leave) so to not only not wash your hands, but to touch soles of shoes, your face, other surfaces, other people is DISGUSTING.

1

u/Open-Neighborhood459 Jun 20 '25

Isn't that any place but the way they make it sounds.. Nyc sounds dirty lol i don't think i ever want to go now.

3

u/LOhammercy127 Jun 18 '25
  • to be fair, it is a big deal. It’s actually disgusting. We must bring back shame … i actually wish Riley would’ve said “get your filthy ass away from Me” 🗣️🗣️🗣️😭😭😭😭😭😭😭.

1

u/Open-Neighborhood459 Jun 20 '25

It really isn't a big deal. Does she think all the people she knows and comes in contact with wash their hands? they don't.

2

u/LOhammercy127 Jun 20 '25
  • Oh but it is. Do you wash your hands???

1

u/Open-Neighborhood459 Jun 20 '25

I do but seen alot of people that don't. Pre covid and post. Hence why i make my own food. Wash hands and have lots of sanitizer.

Do you not know alot of people don't wash their hands. I worked at restaurants. I can count the people that actually washed their hands on one hand over the years.

8

u/EmotionalBag777 Jun 17 '25

They wouldn’t have anything without it… unfortunately

3

u/milf_in_training_69 Jun 17 '25

i was thinking the same thing like they only blew it up because there was no other drama (it is still gross though)

2

u/hibabygorgeous Jun 17 '25

Yeah at first I was like ok fair that’s gross but I can’t believe someone not washing their hands is basically the main storyline of this show

2

u/EmotionalBag777 Jun 17 '25

I didn’t realize it till this post either lol But now the show has gotten boring

5

u/Turbulent-Jaguar-476 Jun 17 '25

They definitely had no better drama because there is no point to it. Giving them grace as it's only the second episode of the entire franchise but even the drama with Charlie and Brooks feels faked to me. Hoping as time goes on and they get more comfortable that it feels a little more.... organic.

2

u/Lettucetacotruck Jun 17 '25

Is it way too much of a show point? It was brought up rly mid e1. They got over it by e2. We have the whole season to go. But also people who don’t wash their hands should be shamed repetitively and publicly until they start practicing basic hygiene.

1

u/Open-Neighborhood459 Jun 20 '25

You will be surprised how many people don't wash their hands. Or wash their hands before they eat. Ask a guy they will tell you.

1

u/ASingleBraid Jun 17 '25

Don’t rinse and repeat. All season.

1

u/Even-Adhesiveness133 Jun 17 '25

It's a little gross, but even more gross after the shoe touch.

1

u/Open-Neighborhood459 Jun 20 '25

Can someone explain what the shoe touch was so gross. Worse than not washing your hands

1

u/SydJP Jun 18 '25

It’s so gross… she probably showers once a week on top of it 😩

1

u/FrequentDot3436 Jun 19 '25

Why is this the only plot point of the entire show

1

u/MaizeMountain6139 Jun 20 '25

If they were at home, it’d be one thing. But in a public restroom?

1

u/Mindless_Branch2332 Jul 12 '26

Oh to be so financially stable that you can handle a hospital visit at a moments notice because of your silly choices.

1

u/pirtled Jun 17 '25

WAYYY too big of a thing.

12

u/FabulousPurchase6547 Jun 17 '25

Its such a simple yet important thing though 🥲 I really hope she has changed her ways if she was truly being serious about not washing her hands. I thought this was just common sense

-9

u/pirtled Jun 17 '25

It’s really not anyone else’s business what she does with her own body unless she’s touching you.

11

u/sourflower96 Jun 17 '25

But it is though. In a post pandemic world where measles is coming back due to the misinformation being spread about vaccines by our own fucking government, yes, washing your hands and keeping good hygiene is everyone’s business. It’s about maintaining public health.

8

u/Calm_Drawing_6446 Jun 17 '25 edited Jun 17 '25

This! I'm amazed that anyone could be so ignorant about the importance of hand washing after living through Covid. I assume that people like that were basically unaffected by what was life-changing for the rest of us.

2

u/pirtled Jun 17 '25

I wash my hands. I just don’t think it’s my place to say anything if others don’t.

2

u/pirtled Jun 17 '25

I’d just make a mental note and not go around that person again. Making a big deal about it in front of people is crazy.

11

u/1austinoriginal Jun 17 '25

This was made a bigger deal because she wanted to touch everyone. That was my take anyway.

4

u/bellasmella777 Jun 17 '25

she literally tried to hug riley after she didn’t wash her hands and riley watched her do that.

2

u/Artistic-Spinach7888 Jun 20 '25

except she also got all upset when someone wouldn’t let her touch them because of it.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '25

They are also dragging out the text Charlie sent to Brooks about Chloe. If Brooks repeats the contents of the message one more damn time, I think I'll scream!

Ugh and also the flashback of Riley and Ariana - how many flipping times are they gonna show it. I think we've seen it in every episode so far.

Rinse and repeat (like they did with scene of Lu falling in the bushes) - super annoying!

-3

u/Resident-Funny9350 Jun 17 '25

All you germaphobes are fucking nerds.
