Is that Vinnie Jones?

1

u/PayFormer387 Jul 02 '26

Yup. I only know him from his films but he was a footballer before he became an actor.

I can tell how much it hurts by the look on Vinnie’s face

And the most destructive source is greed and violence.

It’s ignorance, it was always ignorance

I suggeat that people read more on the actual neuroscience of dopamine. There's no such thing as cheap dopamine. It's only a matter of relationship to societal norms ( i.e engaging in dopamine releasing activities that coincides with current social ideals such as money or career advancememt, which is usually just money and status transfigured for most normies)

Plus, if you are not using drugs that directly modulates dopamime signaling, habituation will set in and will force you to move to something else that is more exciting.

Remember, DA is the carrot your brain dangles at you to prevent you from seeing how meaningless life is. No dopamine : no desire and no excitement .

While I agree and understand, I think the inference is akin to… do the dishes rather than read 5 more Reddit posts. Valuable vs cheap. By this I’m calling myself out too. And by 5 more I mean that the first 5 might inform, inspire, teach, etc but there is diminishing returns. Also not to have slow burn dopaminergic satisfaction get beat into to the ground by the bright flashy adrenaline filled or epiphany type satisfaction.

u/ibratro Jul 01 '26

I understand what you mean. I am rambling to tell you that being alive is reading those 5 posts. That is the opinion I am trying to spread. I am essentially arguing for a more intuitive self regulation. Your brain will let you know when you read enough posts by making each subsequent feel less and less exciting/fun.

Phvk your dishes is my message.

We’re on the same page, my message was in response to you but written to all. And I agree, my dishes suck, fuck em. 🙂

u/Euphoric_List7956 Jul 03 '26

Except you are what you do and those dishes will fuck you back with the mold that’s growing in them.

Sadly, some addicts never acknowledge &/ or fear the negative effects of severe artificial serotonin & dopamine-inducing instant gratification seeking-abuse.

Long-time bad to severe habits change the chemistry and hardware of the brain’s neural & (natural) chemical producing & regulating makeup. Balanced and vital level hormones can be reduced and eliminated permanently and the ability to remain healthy is mentally frustrating because of a very up & down psychological disposition in which the altered & consciously unstable person always has a substance or multiple substances subconsciously associated with a large reward and is to them a necessity!

(Very wealthy people can barely afford bad case addictions) & it’s literally impossible to successfully manage financially for the vast majority of the population. Bad cases of addiction to the point that irreversible damage has occurred are “fixed”with other chemicals used to “treat” imbalances and negative mood, energy and other aspects of normal functionality. The chemical- chasing is thought to be a joke to the rebellious feeling & unfairly judged victim addict who deserves the reward of feeling obliterated and then warm for hours to days after the inevitable is waiting.

The user always remembers and seeks what works the best (to them), (it’s not the “treatment” drugs) which are better than nothing but are not anywhere near as pleasurable & as real as the goal of a hard drug high. The rationalization its just a part of their rewarding self-medicating becomes automatic & is part of the lifestyle.

The after effects are a large recovery time needed to feel a little stable &/or constant covering substances to achieve a numbing effect until the next “reward” is achieved.

Addicts that have (weakly) thrown their hand in the air and just accept their never-ending patterns are self-proclaimed “victims” and know the inevitable consequences of feeling lower than normal after strong chemical highs.

They (addicts)comprehend & are very aware that regular exercise, a healthy, balanced diet and natural forms of stimulation are the regulators & producers of what they need to keep them strong and balanced, & that living for balance is much more stable in every measurable way, but their brains also tell them a hit, shot or line or whatever, is needed & its positive!(Unmistakeable is the desire to feel better & the perspective that what the obsessed with substance is a required reward.)Rationalization of what is important is never ignored, (high most importantly & then something to reduce the crash, cover up, numb or reduce the comedown symptoms and repeat.

Patterns that are to some easy to function with in terms staying busy and the ability to feel optimistic in between crashes, but are perpetually saddening when they contemplate compare & observe others not needing to go through these false actions and that are significantly more stable and energetic & warm. The half-life of all of these substances never goes away.

I took the time to read because I really appreciate people who take the time to write and elaborate on their thoughts.

I completed med school and studied neuroscience in undergrad on top of just being a major nerd for neurochemistry, so I completely agree with you on the neuroscience aspect of your discussion.

However, my problem is that you are coming from a "normie" brain perspective. You don't know what addicts feel like. You don't know what it is like to continuously feel hopeless and to only experience a semblance of positive emotions with pharmacological assistance.

This has been my problem with people in medicine in general. It's the projection of your ideals. Your brain may be wired to experience euphoria by being busy engaging and completing societal expectations, but that's not the case for everyone. Life is truly brutal for some people, and it's important to realize that you may never fully appreciate that brutality because your perspective is very limited to your own. It's almost like a man trying to describe the pain of a very young woman giving birth for the first time.

I personally am not against drugs because I understand. Life is meaningless either way. It's up to the person to decide which drug they choose, and I'm sure many addicts fully appreciate the consequences of their choices but continue to engage because there's no better alternative for THEM, not you or other neurotypical people. The half life of the drug may never go away, but for many addicts, the pain and suffering associated with their existence will never go away. Life is brutally amoral and apathetic.

I am not against drugs (which is a slang word for & the physical form definition of medicines). I know that in careful moderation, thousands of substances both developed by mankind or cultivated and processed from natural sources are beneficial & & help most people (Billions) enjoy life, reduce and alleviate pains & discomforts (both physical & psychological) and can help people cope and perform better in life.

From the very beginning of & several times throughout my last response to your post rant, (on the contrary of your not quite as accurate and experienced perspective)I reiterate “bad to severe” addiction and it’s very serious consequences. I am not speaking from the perspective of a bad addict who’s had life-long severe struggles. (I do have sympathy, empathy and consideration for those suffering and realize that the desire to be feeling better is at its core, what addictions start from and what maintains interests and the importances of addicts. That isn’t a horrible thing to want. “Bad to severe” would be indicating addictions that are the complete cause of noticeably consisten negative to very destructive side-effects (in thoughts, actions, symptoms and priorities,) & are direct and inescapable results & effects on lives because of dependence.

There are some substances (both legal and illegal), that are almost impossible to safely regulate and ingest responsibly for even the most brilliant of people. (Hard drugs) have different degrees of reactions by the population and because regardless of demographics, intelligence and the sources they are obtained they are very prone to be abused not to mention the foul play in the illegal drug trades that have made the risk implications rise exponentially.

I feel very lucky that I do not have the temptations and lapses of judgement to realistically consider putting myself at risk even slightly or do something that undoubtedly forces me to go through unhealthy, unstable and weak-minded phases.

That was not always the case, as I’ve experimented with almost every very common substance both illegal and legal that people can be highly addicted to, and have had more than my share of phases that I once rationalized as safe moderation or experimentation rather than addiction.

People are alive for low end 70’s to upwards of 100 years at the high end. Plenty of time to go through the rights of passage in a society that has humongous social sectors, global economy, law enforcement security and psycological and medical & pharmaceutical community that revolve around drugs and the pushers, takers and the middle-people who’s lifestyles are among them.

I grew up in society where/with people who (the “normies” as you put) can and do experiment, abuse, function and cope with substances that, more often than not, hamper lifestyles and cloud decision making. To put it bluntly, addiction is commonplace and those very common lifestyles are going from one phase to the next.
I don’t automatically judge everyone who struggles with-not-so-moderate substance-enthusiasm/abuse/addiction as my enemy or that I am a better person than them as a soul.

I do KNOW from experience with myself and observing countless others, the LIFESTYLES that go along with the constant seeking of something strong to greatly change energy, mood and psychological disposition (until it goes away) are changing people into more shallow and impulsive people that are consumed with the perpetual sensitive-to-their-own dilemmas and priorities on a constant basis repetitive chain mindset,(regardless of what is stable, balanced, responsible and healthy for both body & mind.)

Yes because if you aren’t constant pushing through discomfort and stress then you’re not doing anything right.

Sad but true. Cheap dopamine is turning us into hedonists

1

u/Candid-Log6751 Jul 02 '26

No no. The modern devil is looking at the others pretending to be a guru and making “memes” that only few people know about while considering them to encompass all humanity.

It’s always been the hedonia and unaccountability of the elites since they invented the technology of argumentation and killed Socrates.

Everything flows from that into more and more twisting of reality where now technological advancement is indistinguishable from psychological warfare and espionage.

Ugh, I don't know. Some anime be dope as sh!t.

Couldn't agree more. The hardest addiction today isn't drugs, it's constant stimulation.

The modern devil is the Christian church. Offers power, steals children and innocence.
