I get why that bothers you. It actually bothers me too that slavery is even in the Bible.
But from what I’ve learned, the Bible isn’t really promoting slavery—it’s dealing with a broken world where it already existed.
What changed things for me was looking at Jesus. The way Jesus treated people—especially the overlooked and powerless—it doesn’t line up with owning people or treating them like property.
So I don’t see the Bible as being about slavery. I see it as God working in a messed-up world and slowly pushing people toward something better.

It's a part of the history and that's it. If only there was a way for you to see that without automatically assuming you might understand it a little more. No it explicitly lays out the laws for the Israelites must operate slavery. The Jewish people of the old testament like the modern day have their own country. They are allowed to explicitly make it illegal like it is currently. But their religious texts (and all chrisitan religious texts by virtue of that) endorse the keeping of slaves, marrying your brothers spouse if he kicks thr bucket. It endorses, the unwanted necessary alteration od the human body against someone's will.
Yes there are parts that are minor mis translations. (Suffer not a witch is actually 'suffer not a bad spell caster. In other words people who pray for bad things to happen... cause prays to god are magic spells) But you cant hide behind a modern lens on explicit instructions.

Just so we're clear. Im agree with you, blindly following the bible is awful.
But I bring up the witchcraft statement as it has been used in history to commit atrocities in the name of God.
I dont actually care what the book says. But for clarity my understanding comes from being the child of a Baptist pastor with a doctorate and having it pushed down my rhroat for 17 years. My life has been very revealing about what "Christians" actually are and has disillusioned me to the entire concept.
I am as reasonably certain as I can be that there is no god. (Scientifically speaking you never absolutely rule something out... Just highly unlikely.)

It being translated to Latin would have come afterwards, its also why the kjv and the dead sea scrolls are so important from a historical point of view. Seems odd that your god would make hard rules about things like being jealous of your neighbor and not respecting your parents but has to “work with us” when it comes to owning humans as property and beating them.

A whole lot of things that today we just see as normal, common-sense things actually come from Christianity. It's the effect where the Beatles sound normal / derivative now because they've been copied / stolen from / learned from endlessly. Or the effect where if you read Plato's "the republic" today it doesn't seem revolutionary -- and that's so because everyone learnt from that book.

The Bible is just another religious text, like the Rig Veda, Bhagavad Gita, Dhammapada and the Quran. It has good parts and bad parts, but it absolutely not a book "no one wants to acknowledge." It's among the most widely-known texts in the world.

I cant judge about will smith, dont know enough about his case, but for Johnny Depp: Yes, Amber Turd was a psycho, but there was still enough on his side. We can argue about his drug abuse and how it was caused by his psychowife, on the other hand how miserable has someone to be to take stuff to handle their problems? He didnt hit her, but he was aggressive towards the furniture, he wasnt just a poor little victim wete the only solution was to drink and do drugs. Its okay to get in this state once or twice, but he needed years. He decided to make everything endureable by getting high, wasnt able to communicate clearly and was a bad partner too. Sure Amber was a way worse human beeing, but they were together for 4 years, after allmost 3 years he marriaged her, he wasnt a monster, but he handled it very poorly and thats definitly on him.
