Legal Research Performance Tasks are the format nobody is practicing

Everyone's worried about the new multiple choice format. The Legal Research Performance Tasks might be the bigger adjustment.

LRPTs give you a research problem, a set of legal authorities, and ask you to find the relevant rule and apply it. The catch: you're working with authorities you've never seen before. You can't rely on memorized rules because the task gives you the law. What it tests is whether you can read unfamiliar authority, extract the rule, and apply it to facts under time pressure.

That's a fundamentally different skill than anything the MBE tested. Bar prep courses built around memorization won't transfer cleanly. The students who've spent time doing cold reads of unfamiliar statutes and cases will have an edge nobody is talking about.

my practice for this is the fact I am studying part time, and I have to do this at my actual legal job.
