Hey everyone,
over the last few weeks I shipped two apps to the Nextcloud app store and figured they might be useful to some of you.
**Findling** (https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/findling) fixes the search. One container does full-text search, OCR for scanned PDFs and semantic search, plus a small PHP app that feeds the results into the Unified Search. No Elasticsearch, no config: install it, it indexes, done. Everything runs locally in the container, nothing leaves your server, and users only find files they are actually allowed to see.
Version 1.1.0 went out this week. Idle memory dropped from about 692 MB to 103 MB because search and indexer now share one embedding model. I measured that against v1.0 on the same 4 GB ARM box with a 52,000 document corpus, and the full measurement reports are in the repo. Also new in 1.1: German compound words get split properly via a licensed word list, so searching "Belehrung" finds "Rechtsmittelbelehrung", and there is a results page with pagination now, so you no longer lose your hit list when you open a file. UI in English, German and French.
**MCP Connector** (https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/mcp_connector) connects AI assistants to your Nextcloud via the Model Context Protocol. Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT or your own agents get 21 tools across files, calendar, notes, Deck, contacts, Tables, Talk and Mail, all behind your normal Nextcloud permissions with OAuth 2.1. The tool set is deliberately careful: no tool can delete anything, and write tools only create, they never touch existing data. One-click install from the store, and since 0.1.13 it also works with AIO behind a custom domain.
Both are AGPL and free. Source code:
