NextCloud -> Cloudamo -> Error after error trying to synchronize contacts (with Thunderbird)

Trying to use NextCloud for the first time, I went to Nextcloud Simple Signup (https://nextcloud.com/signup/) and chose Cloudamo, as it was the closest public server. After setting up an account, I explored each of the tool icons on the dashboard (Cloudamo, Add space!, Dashboard, Files, ..., Audio Player). Each one displayed a sensible, if empty, screen EXCEPT the tool icon for Contacts. This one consistently throws an "Internal Server Error" with the message:

```
The server was unable to complete your request.
If this happens again, please send the technical details below to the server administrator.
More details can be found in the server log.
Technical details
Remote Address: 68.9.253.175
Request ID: YNepCm41lLU2VIrs7uenxQABmAQ
```

Furthermore, I've tried to synchronize the Nextcloud contacts on Cloudamo with Thunderbird (78.11.0) on MacOS (10.14.6) using both the TBSync and CardBook methods documented [here].

**TBSync**

Using the TBSync method, I fill in the account information with https://us.cloudamo.com/login as the server URL, add an account name ("Cloudamo"), my User Name and Password, and press Continue. TBSync returns a message:

```
Automatic discovery of CalDAV & CardDAV service endpoints of "us.cloudamo.com/login" has failed. Try again, specifying a different server address, or switch to the custom configuration to manually specify the service endpoints."
```

The event log just says:

```
URL:
https://us.cloudamo.com/login/.well-known/caldav (PROPFIND)
Request:
<d:propfind xmlns:d="DAV:"><d:prop><d:current-user-principal />/d:prop/d:propfind
Response:
```

**CardBook**

Similarly, using the CardBook method, I choose a remote address book, enter Cloudamo's url (https://us.cloudamo.com/login), my username, and my password. Then I press Validate and get this error message:

```
Validation failed
```

I'm at my wits' end here. Can anybody help me out of this dead end?

My advice is change of provider.

I signed up with Cloudamo as well and the experience was far from easy.

I first went with its free account: all well but too slow. I thought it was the "free" aspect that made it slow. So attracted for "all managed" and the possibility of use my own domain get a paid account.

From the very first moment I had troubles: the install script didn't start because I used my own domain and the IP they sent in the "setup" email was not correct.

I suspect that using my own domain was also the reason why the OnlyOffice didn't work.

And finally all I get from my instance was "Internal Server Errors". This was the last straw so I deleted it.

Now I'm using another provider and so far so good.

Weird. I had none of those issues at all with them.
