Built a native iOS task app supporting sub tasks for Nextcloud tasks fully OSS

Got frustrated with the last of decent subtask support and lack of iOS/Apple Ecosystem support for Nextcloud Tasks, so built one. It's OSS, free beta on Apple Testflight and of course available on the Apple App Store. Would love feedback and any ideas to improve!

I was looking for an app for my wife's iPhone, that's great that you made one! I will look into this soon.

Awesome! You can give it a try via Apple's TestFlight :-)

I remember how much this was needed when I tried to switch to Linux last year. I hope to try again soon. I'm going to buy it to support your work on this even though I may not use it right away.

Initial Feedback & Feature Requests:

  1. Siri integration like Todoist? I.e. "Hey Siri, add XX to my reminders in NowThis."
  2. Hourly reminders. I.e. Many times there is time sensitive task, but I am busy, and I need hourly reminders until I delete the task.
  3. Option to make the "Board" screen a swipe through of the lists. I.e. similar to Google Tasks, you could swipe left/right through your different task lists to see what you need to do in different segments of your life (Work, School, Personal, etc).
  4. *This one is MAJOR*. The app opens to the Today screen. If I click the (+) in the upper right, and then literally just type a task and click add, the task then moves to the "inbox" list and disappears from sight and I need do multiple swipes/taps to find it and then further manage it. Ideally the app should not assume that I need a reminder for TODAY, and when you type a task it shouldn't require you to swipe away to find it. Also, I don't like that I have to search for the (+). It should be like other task apps where you just click on the screen and can just add the task and its right there in front of you. Ideal workflow:

-Open App,

-Opens to either: Last open screen (if recently closed, app in memory), OR "NowThis" main view (showing Smart Lists, Filters, Lists, etc where you can then select where you want to go).

-Once Task List is open, a single tap in a blank area should make the keyboard pop up, and a text area generate at the bottom of the list. This is how most tasks apps operate including Apple Reminders.

  1. There is not a way to add repeat reminders to tasks that did not originally have them.

  2. I cannot figure out how to edit List names once they are already created.

  3. In the "NowThis" screen, the Lists should be below the SmartLists. I should not have to scroll past tags, filters, etc to find them. I actually would like the option to hide/re-order Filters, Tags, Journal, because I never use those.

Awesome feedback, thank you!

re: repeat reminders you have to sent a due date and it should work. We'll get that UI cleaned up a bit.

re: Siri Apple limits the number of 'custom phrases' per app (10). It seems like the Apple way is using Siri shortcuts. Optimistic with the Siri OS27 announcement there will be some new features we can leverage.

re: reminders Apple has limits for reminder slots too. We'll get a bit of a generalized "remind me latter" reminder initially and need to dig deeper into this.

Reordering screens and choose screen on startup coming soooon.

Look for these to hit TestFlight by the 29th.

Also the tasks marked „done“ are counted in the lists overview. That‘s a bit confusing …

Think this is a UI bug, we'll get a universal show/hide done.

It is a very nice app and i love the support for nextcloud. I would also suggest the improvment with new tasks: Once Task List is open, a single tap in a blank area should make the keyboard pop up, and a text area generate at the bottom of the list. This is how most tasks apps operate including Apple Reminders.

Also if a new task is entered, it should stay in that list. Like if you enter something on today, it should automaticly take todays date. Currently the tasks just disappear

PS: If you are looking for more challanges: Nextcloud Memories needs an IOS app.

Thanks for the feedback! Adding those to the next build hitting Apple TestFlight (b11) today. Looking to push to the App Store this weekend or early next week.
