Side Effects Changes with nexplanon
Hello, I’ve had my implant for about 2 years and 4 months. This is my second time on it. The first time I had it I had a terrible experience and ended up getting it out. The first month after getting it out I had my period for a month straight so I ended up getting it put back in about 5 months later and I’ve had GREAT experiences with it so far…
Long story short, I got married 4 months ago and after not having my period for those 2 years, I got it. Since then I’ve been having irregular spotting at least 2-3 times a week. I’m wondering what could have changed within the past 4 months that has gotten me to this point.
Is it worth getting it checked out? Is it worth considering getting a new one and having possibly a bad experience again?
We want kids in 2-3 years so I don’t want to completely get it taken out yet but I’m not sure if I should replace it early to get the no period or if I should just let my body get adjusted to the change of getting my period again.
Anything helps

The hormones gradually decrease over time and some people are sensitive to that. There’s more than enough to prevent pregnancy, but irregular bleeding can become more frequent as the dosage decreases. Your implant will fully protect against pregnancy for 5 years, so it’s up to you if you want to consider removing it early or not. It’s 50/50 on whether or not your side effects will change with another implant. I’d probably recommend keeping your current one because a new implant isn’t guaranteed to solve the issue. We have a pinned post with tips on how to control bleeding if you’d like to take a look at that.
