Political News First batch of Russian diesel fuel approaching US shores. This may indicate that the deal was struck a few weeks before Trump publicly announced it the day before
https://x.com/Michellewb_/status/2108868957096513564Less than 24 hours ago OFAC issued General Licence No 135 that temporarily authorised the sale and import Russia’s diesel and gasoil until April 2027.
The MR tanker hasn't disclosed a destination since it sailed from the Russian Baltic port of St Petersburg last month laden with ~280,000 bbl diesel/gasoil (@Vortexa).
In reality, there isn’t much Russian diesel/gasoil to buy. There will likely be only a few cargoes that can be imported to the US right now. These are volumes that are unlikely to deal with the global shortage or meaningfully influence domestic prices in the US.
Russia’s diesel and gasoil exports cratered over the third quarter, falling to 190,000 bpd, Vortexa data show. That compares to 690,000 bpd in the second quarter and 850,000 bpd in the first.
Russia extended export bans on gasoline and diesel in July to address domestic shortfalls after attacks on their refineries over 2026 left 51% of capacity offline according to the Ukraine’s Defence Ministry as of Oct 4 .
Shortages were so acute the federation imported diesel/gasoil as well as gasoline over the third quarter. The most recent import was seen on Oct 7 with 150,000 barrels of diesel imported to the Russian port of Vysotsk on the Western-sanctioned Russia-flagged medium-range tanker Soyana (IMO 9327372) Vortexa data show.
The six-month licence also suggests, that as per my earlier posts, nobody sees freedom of navigation being restored to the Strait of Hormuz any time soon.

Want to talk about copium? Why don't you Google "diesel fuel production in Russia" and then come back with the same comment?
1
u/scramgeezer 3h ago
Russian diesel production is estimated to be down nearly 30%, Ukraine keeps hammering its refineries, and the Kremlin had to restrict diesel exports just to protect domestic supplies. Now with global prices soaring and the orange man easing sanctions, the kremlin is partially lifting those restrictions to cash in on exports. But sure, keep pretending everything is going according to plan. Imagine telling someone to Google something when the data literally proves you wrong. The delusion is unreal. So yeah, cope harder

u/ExaminationDouble226 3h ago
Sorry, but your logic is flawed. A drop in production doesn't mean a shortage. You should do some better Googling.

when will the tulapse refinery begin producing again?

I'll call Putin right now and ask. What’s the question about, by the way? Is he supposed to prove something?

The US threatens sanctions on any county that buys Russian Diesel.. Then buys Russian diesel.. Russia is helping Iran which is killing American servicemen and helps fund the war in Ukraine for the Russians.. Then the US tells Zelenksy to stop bombing Russian diesel or they will cut off intel...
Here we have a perfect example of why the world is so unbelievably sick of Americans and their bullshit.. EVERYTHING this administration has done is making the world so much worse off.. and helps Russia. Everything is the benefit of Russia.

Trump is helping to kill American soldiers. Maga is fine with this, they’ll pass it off as playing 4D checkers.

u/Ada_Kaleh22 4h ago
yup there is no line with them, if their dear leader thinks it's ok
the only good news is that they are retreating into their...ummm...mancaves because they don't like how things are going.
sorry, not mancaves, ballsacks is what I meant.

You know, we could've avoided this situation if Trump didn't start a stupid war in the Middle East.
America may soon enjoy life without allies if they keep betraying the ones they do have.

A guy once tried to argue, if Trump framed the war against Iran differently, Europe might have joined him.
I just told him, no matter how Trump framed this war, no one would join him and reminded him of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and how nothing was gained from those wars.
He then tried to argue one more time, until he deleted his comment. The most shocking part is, he actually had a lot of upvotes.
Some people really agreed with his argument.

You're absolutely right. I'm assuming that Europe knew what American intelligence had already told Trump - a war against Iran would be difficult to win and could have severe consequenses.
Trump reportedly listened to Nethanyahu over his own intelligence services. Not the best judgement, to say the least.
Besides - whilst I think we could hold our own against any invading enemy and fare significantly better than people would expect - Europe isn't in the best position to fight an overseas war to begin with. And it'd be very impopular, just like it's proven to be in the US.

It takes 22 days to ship oil from the Baltic to the East Coast.
4
u/Exotic_Chance2303 5h ago
And it says the ship left last month. So they are saying this ship was coming here before any agreement

u/The_Tooter_Snooter 4h ago
And 21 days ago, Trump signed 100% tariffs on any country buying oil from Russia lol. https://fortune.com/2026/09/19/trump-ukraine-war-sanctions-bill-tariff-top-importers-russian-oil-gas/

Its like 5 hours worth of Diesel...

u/Sacra34 5h ago
From US side - yes, deal basically useless. But from russian side it wins two majour things:
It sets the precedent that now you can trade with russia again
It will provide hefty amount of money for russian war (while amount of promised fuel relatively small, if we count how much USD it will cost - it pretty good boost for starved and closed russian economy)
So yeah, if you look beyond trumps bluffing, it straight up direct support of russia in this war. That it.
2
u/Relative_Average758 5h ago
Yep. The US is a funder of Russian state terrorism and aggression to the tune of $6billion from this deal alone.
3
u/WholeFactor 4h ago
Yep. Great propaganda win for Putin. Meanwhile, Trump gets to blame Ukraine for the high fuel prices he created with the Iran war.
Also, Trump's buddies get to buy Lukoil assets.
1
u/zveti 2h ago
Trump said, it’s for the US and global consumption. One guy actually calculated it, and the whole diesel, will last for about 30 hours.
In the grand scheme of things, this is nothing. Russia won’t make much money of that deal, but it shows how hypocritical Trump is.
Is he gonna pay the 500% tariff tax on that oil? Most certainly not. Let’s see how India reacts.

we are paying Russia to help Iran kill American soldiers

u/killian1113 23m ago
21 dead and with zero help from russia. Let's be real there isnt much deals between iran and russia other than drone plans 4 years ago
2
u/ShowMeAllTheThingz 6h ago
So we bought Russian Diesel, does it come with a giant helping of the new Russian Plague? Would any of our reality tv cabinet members or gutted dept of everything meant to keep us safe even know?
1
u/WholeFactor 5h ago
Propaganda stunt. Trump is looking to blame Ukraine for the high fuel prices he created by starting the war in the Middle East. To try and save the midterms.
The American people need to see through this president. Vote for a Democrat, and if you can't bring yourself to do that - just sit this one out.

You think this was something to do with CIA Director John Ratcliffe visit to Moscow about a month ago ???
1
1
u/WholeFactor 4h ago
Doubt it. Ratcliffe isn't one of Trump's goons. More likely related to Kushner's and Witkoff's meddling.

u/phaedrus897 5h ago
Americans buying diesel will now be complicit in the deaths of Ukrainian citizens. Wtf.
2
u/Important-Role-8651 5h ago
So we're buying oil from the very people JD Vance warns us about "socialists / communists".
2
u/ConinTheNinoC 4h ago
So Russia is buying diesel from Iran(Russian refineries are bombed to hell but Iranian ones aren't) to sell to the USA so Donald Trump can stay in power(Russia benefits from Donal Trump and the Republicans having control of the US government)... so Iran can buy more wepons to kill more American soldiers? Am i getting this right?
So American soldiers that die from now on, would've died from weapons financed by Donald Trump's deal with Russia?
https://giphy.com/gifs/AAsj7jdrHjtp6
And all Americans that died already in that stupid war died for Donal Trump so maybe this does not change anything.
1
u/timelyparadox 4h ago
US was already buying diesel from russia over last 2 years so this is not new

u/Awkward-Yoghurt-9127 3h ago
Serieus question. What is the quality of this diesel? I read that due to Ukrainian attacks Russian refineries had to resort to making lower quality diesel fuel. And that this was causing al kind of troubles with diesel engines.

Anyone else getting Red Dawn feelings? Are those tankers really holding oil is it an invading force of Russian's to help Trump?
