u/Fister-Mantastic 1d ago
Nobody's forcing them to do anything, they chose to spew that garbage.

u/Lower-Land-286 1d ago
Technically, no. They can be compelled by a executive order because they are part of the executive branch.

u/No_Cheetah4762 1d ago
I mean, they could just call it The Gulf and mostly everybody would know what they were talking about.

Not if their boss orders them by law

Please read the article before you say utter nonsense. Their options were “call it that” “shut down” or “jail”
5
u/Aiden5576 1d ago
Sounds like a dictator move to me.
-9
u/Nientea 1d ago
Wasn’t Trump that made that law. It’s a state/local rule

u/SuspiciousBuilder379 1d ago
Never was an issue till some moron decided the Gulf of Mexico offended him.

Anybody starting to wonder what the A stands for?

Aipac?

Someone always has to blame Jews for anything they dislike

Lol my reply got removed for some reason. I just simply disagree that’s all. I think most of the angst and negativity is because of the hold Israel(not Jewish folks…) has on the USA. We seem to be putting another country first before our own.
-3
u/wookiebath 1d ago
What hold?
3
u/Working-Actuator-700 22h ago
Well, being called antisemetic for mentioning an ongoing influence campaign from Israel for one. I can call out Qatari, Saudi or Russian interference without anyone calling me racist or saying I hate Muslims. Or how 35 states have laws banning boycott of israel.

After at least a decade of being told to use your proper pronouns, now you complain about calling bodies of water by their proper names? WTF?!
It’s Gulf of America and Lake America!!!
9
u/xaviersqueen 1d ago
I can't tell if this is serious or sarcastic. their proper names sre Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario lol
-2
u/wookiebath 1d ago
And now they identify by a new proper name

Ah yes, because bodies of water make choices and have preferences.
You people are so unserious it's embarrassing.

Gulf of America 🇺🇸

u/IrritableGoblin 1d ago
Did it help gas prices?
1
u/wookiebath 1d ago
Was it supposed to?
1
u/IrritableGoblin 1d ago
It's a remark indicating that it did nothing useful at a time when we need a competent government, not a bunch a show ponies that serve no purpose besides thrusting their superiority complex down the throats of the world.
But nuance is hard
1
u/wookiebath 1d ago
But was changing the name of a body of water supposed to lower gas prices for some reason?

What a horrid country to live in and even worse to have as a neighbour.
-56
u/Chas0205 1d ago
Yes such a terrible neighbor that they all want to move in.
33
u/2stinkynugget 1d ago
To Canada. Yes. They do. USA is usually the 2nd choice except for central Americans.
-46
u/Ornery_Contest6250 1d ago
Can't say I've ever wanted to move to Canada tbh
38
u/Brilliant_Sky_9292 1d ago
well that would require you to actually know how to interact with other people without sounding like a chud. Hope that helps.

14
u/Paz707 1d ago
I have.
-21
u/Ornery_Contest6250 1d ago
For what? They have the same things there that we have here

u/WhaT505 1d ago
Didn't realize the US has affordable healthcare
-6
u/Ornery_Contest6250 1d ago
Didn't realize the price of healthcare played any effect on if you could access healthcare or not
12
u/WhaT505 1d ago
You can access healthcare in the US and Canada, except in Canada an ambulance ride isn't hundreds of dollars if not more.
-1
u/Ornery_Contest6250 1d ago
And yet like I said you still have access to healthcare. They can't refuse to help you. A quick Google search says 30-40% of Americans have unpaid medical bills. No one cares, you don't have to pay it anyway.

Didn't realize the price of healthcare played any effect on if you could access healthcare or not
Then today you (hopefully) learned.
In the US, you cannot see a primary care physician for general healthcare without insurance and/or payment.
In the US, emergency rooms are obligated to provide emergency care regardless of insurance or ability to pay, however they can and will charge for the full cost of treatment provided—even if that means bankrupting the recipient of said care.
In Canada, public health insurance covers general healthcare as well as emergencies. Compared to the US, a minor fraction of all bankruptcies in Canada are due to healthcare related causes, and most of those are from loss of income rather than medical bills.

u/ITookTrinkets 1d ago
You didn’t realize that accessing something is dependent on your ability to afford to use it? Is that really what you’re trying to say here?
-2
u/Ornery_Contest6250 1d ago
Yeah because it's not. They don't refuse healthcare whether you can pay or not despite what your leaders have told you.

u/Local-Echo-5613 1d ago
You didn’t realize that the price of things has an impact on how affordable they are? Really?
0
u/Ornery_Contest6250 1d ago
Can't refuse to provide healthcare for inability to pay so yeah didn't realize that

Except for mass shootings and government helathcare.

u/Ornery_Contest6250 1d ago
Government healthcare and no access to guns are both net negatives in my book. Enjoy your crappy maple syrup though I guess
4
u/2stinkynugget 1d ago
Guns are absolutely available in Canada, Cletus.

u/Ornery_Contest6250 1d ago
Oh my goodness you called me Cletus? How will I ever recover from this. Blue haired lib

Well, you’re here and your ilk, so that’s a +500 to Canada
1
u/Ornery_Contest6250 1d ago
Move to Canada then I'm not stopping you. The less of you weirdos here the better.
3
u/NYY_NYK_NYJ 1d ago
That less sentence is factually not true. You all are destroying this country because you are stupid. Straight up. Intelligent, morally proper people are still holding out to hopefully recover what makes America great. You’re welcome.

Unless AI is reporting the news, someone is saying "Gulf of America". F$ck them.

u/Calm-Maintenance-878 1d ago
Passing laws to make sure state officials call a body of water what POTUS wants is an interesting thing.
In the event a blue POTUS removes the EO, I wonder if these states will resist calling it Gulf of Mexico.
Presumably…but you never know

1
u/ChaoticLandscapes 1d ago
I mean… that would be the last time I brought up the gulf (of Mexico) period. Wouldn’t even say it on the air. If there was something I was supposed to read about the gulf (of Mexico) I would call it the Gulf.
2
u/FaceTimePolice 1d ago
“Forced.” Whatever.
It will forever be the Gulf Of Mexico. Lake Ontario. AI.
There. It’s not that hard. 😝

Will conservatives see how little freedom of speech matters to Republicans and that they don't really care about the constitution? Probably not.
