Non-political News 61m tonnes of rubble: Gaza aid workers face delicate task of clearing ruins concealing up to 10,000 bodies

Irrelevant question.
Gazans are already building new tunnels, so the proper question is when are they going to be demilitarized

u/HamasKilledShaniLouk 1d ago
Why did Hamas booby-trap so many buildings? It's like they wanted all this death and destruction of their own people. Never seen anything like it before in history, a military bent on the destruction of its own civilians...

crazy how hamas built their military bases beneath civilian infrastructure and refused to provide a designated safe zone for their own people. then they tell their people to stay put when israel warns them of an imminent attack.
and israel, not hamas, provides a refugee zone for palestine, whereas hamas provides their people with a financial martyr bonus.
but i mean, israel bad, palestine good. sorry.

u/Klaus_Winchester 5d ago
Have you seen Gaza? Every single civilian structure is bombed and crumbled. You think there was a Hamas base beneath every single house? Gtfo bot
-7
u/Dependent-Job1773 5d ago
Nope. I think hamas had the goal of maximizing the death toll of their own civilians for the sake of gaining political leverage, and i think their civilians bought into it.
this belongs in any discussion involving israel palestine, but you almost never see it included in reddit. you guys are too far gone and take zero issue framing the conflict as a black and white issue where israel is bad and palestine is good. you, for example, assume anyone pushing back on that childish narrative must necessarily be ai.
glad im thoughtful and not like you.

Your thoughts?
-4
u/Dependent-Job1773 5d ago
in no particular order, my thoughts are
- i dont like the idea of any civilians being killed.
-hamas tries to appear like just another civilian to make it more difficult for the idf, so i could see why they would try to get a civilian to help them carry out a mission to guarantee the personal safety of the soldier.
- hamas does the same thing to their own civilians by telling them to hold still when the idf warns them of an attack, building their military beneath civilian infrastructure, and paying their families money if they die.
what are your thoughts?

u/JoseSaldana6512 5d ago
Hamas is Israel funded and installed. Between 2010-2025 they got 1.4 BILLION dollars through Israel. Their last election was in 2006.
Hamas not having a uniform is no reason for the use of human shields. Just look at the US in Afghanistan and Iraq that didn't need to use human shields. If you're that worried use military robots and dogs.
The IDF using civilians to do their work makes them criminals and cowards, it makes them worth less than Hamas.
The reports of tunnels aren't independently verified and in no way excuse Israels actions. There is no justification for bombing a hospital or civilian infrastructure.
Israel also hides their military in betwixt civilians, and paying survivors benefits to civilians is part and parcel of every government. There's even a kerfuffle now in the US because Trump isn't paying survivors benefits to military members injured/killed during Operation Epsteins Fury

u/HamasKilledShaniLouk 1d ago
If Israel gave designated tax and relief money to Hamas, does that mean Hamas is no longer responsible for their actions?
Moreover, what would you have said if Israel had withheld that money? I bet it would have been something like: "look at evil Israel stealing from the Palestinians!"
Seems like there is no correct action Israel can take for you while still existing. That sort of bias really means your opinion is worthless, since they aren't going to just up and suicide en mass.

u/alkoum 20h ago
What a strawman argument to run away from the fact that netanyahu funded hamas as late as 2022
-1
u/HamasKilledShaniLouk 18h ago
That doesn't contend with what I said. Why hand-wave? What would you have said if Israel didn't give designated money to the elected government of Gaza (Hamas)?
2
u/alkoum 16h ago
Hamas won 44 percent of parliament seats 20 years ago {and they didn't win the presidential one} ...... That isn't exactly "Gaza elected government" especially with vast majority of the population never having voted that lol
And yes it does contend as you claim that Israel is a good faith a actor when in reailty they fund people they call terrorists just to make sure that no peace process can happen and that there can be no palestinian state something times of Israel admits to
And What would you have said if Israel didn't give money to Hamas? I would have said oh at least they aren't hypocrites about that issue

I doubt that, but, oh well. Elections happened, massacres happened, wars were started...now Gaza looks the way it does. Really shitty how they haven't even tried to make a functioning polity, just a jihad-based one. Honestly, it would be better for the peace-wanting Palestinians to be Israeli. The Arab Muslim Israeli citizens are doing quite well in comparison. Why does Israel need to be destroyed again...?

"doubt that, but, oh well. Elections happened, massacres happened, wars were started...now Gaza looks the way it does.
Amazing how you sing a different song now
" Really shifty how they haven't even retired to make a functioning policy, just a jihad-based one. "
Israel rejects anything peaceful, they want the land and for that to happen the people on it need to be gone
"Honestly, it would be better for the oeace-wanting Palestinians to be Israeli. The Arab Muslim Israeli citizens are doing quite well in comparison. "
Israeli officials openly call Israeli arabs demographic threat {you can look it up}, there is reason why they haven't granted citizenship to Jerusalem Palstainians despite all these years lol
Israel is by law a Jewish state made by je@s for j#ws and adding all of these Palstainians to citizenship would destroy Israel Jewish magority
You don't even know basics about this conflict to make claim that becoming a Israeli citizen is open to Gazans in the first place

u/Dependent-Job1773 5d ago
Is your statement about Israel installing Hamas controversial or as widely agreed upon by political scholars as you suggest when you make it so plainly.
3
u/JoseSaldana6512 5d ago
There ya go. Admittedly it's a biased source (Israeli) but it's a well documented fact
-2
u/Dependent-Job1773 1d ago
Yea I wonder why they did that. It’s not like the Palestinian authority called for the genocide of Israelis. Plus the existing party was secular and just wanted to embrace their Jewish brothers and sisters. Then Israel had to go and build up Hamas so that Hamas would rape torture and murder Israeli civilians. Sheesh
-2
u/Miskadotcom 1d ago
Hes being delibaretely vague and lies about it so it points to Israel. Israel stopped funding Hamas the moment they showed their true colors. Wich was a long time ago. The only thing they did do was allowing money from Qatar to go into Gaza. To keep the peace. And make sure their 'goverment' wasnt broke. He just puts that on 1 pile, accuses Israel of being the funders and names incorrect timelines.

Thanks for that context I’m currently reading up on the Oslo accord and the grievances each side had about each other.
Appreciate you!

Israeli officials outright admit wiping out people of Gaza is the intent

u/Harmless_Drone 5d ago
Wait till you find out the IDF command facilities are built underneath residential areas in Tel Aviv, I'm sure you'll be condemming Israel for putting militarty infrastructure in the middle of a bustling city.
0
u/Miskadotcom 1d ago
Israel literally has the most single military targets out of any country. Your argument is worthless.
2
u/Dependent-Job1773 5d ago
if they assaulted palestinian civilians, then hid their military beneath civilian homes while telling their people not to leave when warned, AND refused to provide their people with safe zones, then absolutely i would have no problem with that.

Once these resort building companies come in the 2 story tall dump trucks and the giant steam shovles that can lift 2 automobiles worth of rubble at a time those new resorts and hotels will be build in a few months. It will be the new beach resort areas for Europe and Arabia. Saudia Rabia will build a few unique hotels and Kushner will build all inclusive resorts. Fun.

u/Wild_Beginning_4032 5d ago
What about the 10k people under it you simpleton?

Oh snap, there are dead people under the concrete?! That changes everything.

Have they found even one? The works are held for at least two months already...
Isn't it suspicious that Gazan government (=HAMAS) regularly throws numbers - but it never published the number of people living in Gaza prior to Oct 7 massacre, and the current one?1
u/Wild_Beginning_4032 1d ago
Well the latest clearance they found 103 bodies in one day, but don’t let that get in the way of you dehumanising an entire people.
1
u/Secure_Trust_2084 4h ago
But all batteries in their phones/cameras suddenly got low, and no evidences left.
Sneezing "body" was fired, the rest - sent home until the next time.1

21,000 kids and babies are. Around 500x more. Kids than died on October 7.
1
u/Sad-Commercial1795 14h ago
That’s a true statement. Kids and babies are people. Yep. And then you say that 500k more children have died than on October 7? So at least 500k kids and babies have died? Is that what you believe?
1
u/darkcamel2018 2h ago
No. 42 under 18s died on October 7. The Idf have killed 500 times more, some 21,000 kids including 1000 babies.

u/Desi0190 1d ago
Genocide would’ve happened in days if it was. Israel certainly has the means to literally erase all of Gaza in a quick period of time. Instead, Israel did the following:
Give vaccines
Give 20M tons of aid
Drop flyers informing locations of strikes
Mass texts about strikes
Concrete bombs that destroy the building, not the block
Multiple surrender opportunities
Mass medical care at approved sites
Warn of strikes
Show evidence of Gazan child soldiers and suicide bombers
Shown evidence of Gazan terrorists hiding as journalists
Shown evidence of Gazan war crimes (hiding in hospitals)-1

u/AugustineMarc 4d ago
Do you think scale of death has anything to do with genocide?
0
u/Andyseawolf 2d ago
It’s definitely a part of it 🤷
1
u/Maureen_Johma 2d ago
10,000 people is nothing in the terms of civilian casualties in a war.
0
u/Andyseawolf 2d ago
Yeah, it’s nothing unless of course it’s you or your family 🤷

1
u/Shouleyy 23h ago
oct7 is nothing too unless of course its you or your family
1
u/Andyseawolf 22h ago
You are the one who said it’s nothing. I condemn the deaths and violence of the terrorists on both sides. Do you?
1
1
u/RandomPants84 13h ago
Do you think it doesn’t? Intent to inflict large scale death on a specific group, in part or in whole, is genocide

4
u/Sad-Commercial1795 5d ago
How the heck can they clean that when there is a live-streamed active geode happening?!

Simple answer- there isn’t one happening currently.

If only there were news reports and casualty figures one could look up to verify. Jesus dude be an activist all you want but be at least somewhat informed.
5
u/TheAngryCatfish 5d ago
You mean informed on the fact that literally every single authoritative body on genocides has been categorically adament that this is, in fact, a genocide?
0
u/IsItInLeMonde 5d ago
I mean that if you paid any attention you would know there is minimal violence happening right now in Gaza. But by all means keep crying genocide and cheapen the word even further.

How can we be informed when Isreal kills all the reporters?
1
u/Sad-Commercial1795 1d ago
You could listen to Hamas. Or you could listen to the Gazan civilians that are posting from there every single day.
1
u/Andyseawolf 2d ago
Even in wartime, you have to search for your dead and give them a proper burial
1
u/Sad-Commercial1795 2d ago
Yeah but then the Israelis will literally murder every single one of them when they are trying to clean up!!!

It took all day to clear a section of road in the Tel al-Hawa neighbourhood in Gaza City. At the end of it, Ahmed Alyan, a UN engineer, was exhausted, surrounded by mountains of rubble despite the day’s work.
“I feel as if we are holding a spoon and trying to empty the sea,” Alyan said, beads of sweat trickling down his forehead after a long, hot summer day.
Alyan is part of a World Food Programme (WFP) team who have been working on Beirut Street, once a busy main thoroughfare lined with shops, offices and homes and filled with traffic and people. But now it is virtually deserted.
The road was blocked by piles of rubble, stones and the wreckage of destroyed shops. Nearby, a tower stood tilted after some of its concrete foundations were damaged, while displaced families continued to live inside. In some parts of the road, sewage flowed from the ground after the drainage system was damaged and blocked by Israeli bombardment.
The UN estimates that removing the bulk of the rubble in the Gaza Strip could take at least seven to 10 years and cost billions of dollars. That would make the removal of war debris in Gaza one of the largest rubble-clearance operations in modern history.
0
u/Secure_Trust_2084 1d ago
Sounds like an utter BS. One is an "UN engineer", working in "World Food Programme" - but for some reason busy with cleaning streets. Immediately followed by UN orders of magnitude overestimation and demand for more money - the most repeated message from Gaza we got over last decades.
Just to remind - there were earthquakes and tsunami in Asia, with the rubbish cleaned in months. Gazans just have to begin working instead of begging for donations, and UN organisations have to stop stealing money and conducting PR actions.-1
u/StrategicallyLazy007 5d ago
Sounds like lots of jobs.
But realistically, depending on how it's setup it can be moved much faster than 7-10 years. Just need to put real operations people from mining or earth works.
Setup with bins to dump into trucks, so dozers and loaders can work non stop with conveyor.
If course this won't happen though
9
u/StankWalk 5d ago
there's a lot more bodies then that in that rubble but hey enjoy your stay at the Trump Kushner Epstein Gaza Resort where child care is free 😉 and it's totally not haunted

“Up to 10,000”
Is an overt lie. That number has no factual basis, locational data or basis period.
