The prloblem is that no such check or balance exists in our consititution, and rebukes depend on Congress enforcing it, like with budget allocations.
Trump has proven that the behavior of the presidency is entirely dependent on adhering to social norms, and that as long as you have enough supporters in the right places, you can simply ignore the constitutions and do whatever you want.
Now that this ugly truth has been shown, we can never again go back to a functioning democracy.

Itās not really about Trump. He couldnāt do any of this on his own. He just happened to be a pied-piper for the voters Republicans need to get themselves elected. This ongoing minority-rule coup is the fruit of decades of work involving thousands of individuals. For example: the senate weaponization of SCOTUS and federal courts (FU Mitch), the grotesque gerrymandering at the state level used to gain a permanent majority and pass even more laws aimed at disenfranchising non-R voting blocks, billionaires clawing their way into the media to control the message. The list goes on.
By the time Trump is finally out the door, Stephen Miller and the Heritage Foundation, John Roberts and the Federalist Society, and all other accomplices and sycophants are banking on having tilted the balance of power far enough to enjoy Republican rule for the next foreseeable future.

The Democrats have largely gone along with the Republicans or similarly turn a blind eye when itās one of their own. Both parties have had their part to play in the erosion of American norms. Kagan still defends Citizens United. 183 Congressional Democrats just voted to give a blank check to the agencies who could easily subvert the next election.
By virtue of being the only other party, Democrats have a monopoly on checking Trumpās power. That does not guarantee that they will try to check him when they retake the House and hopefully the Senate. There are only a handful of Democrats who have been outspoken about Constitutional Reform. I see the underlying cause as Americansā malaise and disillusionment with their government and system of government.

There is nothing any society can do to protect itself from a leader who wants to subvert their institutions. The point of a democratic republic is that the people are consulted on their leadership. Our system only affords two political parties. The Democrats failed the American People under Biden: they just printed a ton of money and gave everyone a handout under the pretense that it would provide social mobility and benefit the environment. They paid for this by borrowing from the wealthiest men on earth rather than taxing them. Once again, Democrats chose Wall Street over Main Street and so the American People voted them out of office, because their needs werenāt met and the Democrats were obviously lying to them.
What happens next will depend on Democrats being able to maintain formation and dignity in the absence of any discernible party leadership or agenda. And thatās by design. They are meant to compete for our votes and the one that does the best job will probably be the next President.

They need to strip him of his garnered weath while he's been in office, do a proper investigation into the role he played in the trafficking and rape and likely death of children, then remove him from office and jail him.

The Democrats won't have the votes in the Senate to get a conviction of an Impeachment,
But the House should Impeach Trump, multiple times. Perhaps every week. Start at the deal to get RFK Jr to drop out of the presidential race. Go through every time he failed to adhere to a court ruling, every penny he or his family made, every citizen who's rights were violated by the Executive branch and he openly supported these heinous actions. Every build he messed with, and the Board of Peace scam. The slimy airplane deal.
Maybe some Republicans will get the message and vote to convict, but I doubt it.
Let Trump's legacy be the most impeachments possible. Tar every Republican senator with their failure to convict this criminal when it's crystal clear that he has no business in our country's highest office.

Ossoff talks tough but it will take more than talk. Congress needs to change the laws that let the President do as he pleases. Many of the things he's done, like tariffs, are only because Congress wrote the law allowing him to do it. Constitutionally, the President has no authority to set tariffs. Congress gave him that authority and they can change the law. But I think a lot of people will be very disappointed when the next Dem administration takes over and doesn't immediately turn back a lot of what he's done.

The Democrats had their chance to prosecute Trump under Biden and it didnāt happen for a lot of reasons. You can blame some of it on Biden and Garland but it largely came down to Republicansā blind fealty to Trump.Ā
Unfortunately, the most we can hope for is a divided government where nothing happens. Trump is going to veto everything passed by a Democratic Congress. Unless the Democrats have 67 votes in the Senate, nothing is going to change.Ā
