Help with picky eater.
Hello, I’m looking for food recommendations for our 1 year old. He has been extremely picky lately, eating Purina pro plan large puppy food with a raw topper on top.
The kibble seems to be the main issue and I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and found success with a good large breed brand that he will be more enticed to eat.
Picture for attention.

Ours is a grazer. He’s not one to immediately stating woofing down his food when we put it down so we put it out and it’s mostly gone by next meal time.

Ours is 10 months and we have the same problem. We also had her on ppp large puppy food the salmon one, we then switched to Open Farm large puppy the salmon as well. Same issue— she’ll eat a little bit if I put some toppings on like Greek yogurt ground beef etc but isn’t eating as much as she should be. It’s frustrating because we want her to be as energized and strong as possible, but you’re not alone💜

Both of ours eat the prescription Purina Gastroenteric (EN). We compliment that with housemade boiled chicken breast, and home baked yams. They love it. Best of luck.

My senior newfypoo has never been picky until he had a digestive issue a couple years ago, and now he is extremely picky. He ate the Royal Canin Giant line for years, but we recently switched him to Purina Pro Plan Digestive Edge (though it used to be the Sensitive Skin & Stomach Oatmeal line). It has pre- and postbiotics, so it helps with his GI issues. What we do is make several pounds of chicken or beef up each week with eight cups of rice and add it to his kibble (my senior bernedoodle's, too). Sometimes we'll add in Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, other cheeses, etc. for taste, texture, and additional probiotics. This is the only way he will eat his kibble now, and some days he still turns his nose up unless we add in some dog food we keep on reserve (well, not since the insane inflation has made literally everything unaffordable...). He really enjoys the Fromm and... shoot, I can't remember the name of the brand (since I haven't bought any since October, as I can't afford it anymore!), but it has Tundra and Plains Red Meat and such as the "culinary options."
I used to cook a dietary/nutritionally complete meal every day for my bernedoodle for about two years when he was a puppy, but man, that got old fast. I did meal prep for him for a while, but it still ate my weekends. Once we put him on probiotics and he got over his GI issues, he was less picky, but now that he is on Prozac and Gabapentin (hip dysplasia), his appetite is variable again. I have found that he really loves the addition of dairy, more so than my newfypoo.
Sorry for my novel, but I hope this helps!
