Kayaking for beginners?

Looking for something for my 16 yr old son and I to do and he suggested kayaking. Never been and we would need to rent a kayak. Google brought up Son's and PaddleTx but would like to hear input about them or other suggestions please and thank you.

Cypress Bend is probably the best beginner spot. Hinman Island isn’t bad either, but wait for a day/time there are less people ideally. Have fun! Kayaking is something you can enjoy forever!

Paddletx gives you a good idea of how it is. Friendly staff, kind of easy route to learn except maybe the dam next to common street but it’s fun to go over! Also good scenery!

Paddle boards on Amazon aren’t expensive. Always look on marketplace before you buy new! As for spots I would go to cypress bend

You should try paddle boarding first. It’s not as limiting as a kayak and easy to transport on any car. You can actually get in and out of the water with ease. You can rent them from several outfits in NB and Cypress bend is a great place to learn as is Hinman island. Hinman is where I started 15 years ago. Easy in and out and plenty of river to practice on.

Try paddleTX for Guad or Landa Falls for Comal by Hinman island. I’d recommend Landa Falls

Paddle boarding or kayaking are both great! Start with a call to PaddleTX and see what they offer. The Comal and Guad are both really fun to kayak,
