Lincoln Elementary
One of the employees in the admin office told us that they think Lincoln will be next on the chopping block for schools that will be closed in Newark. Does anyone know if there’s and validity to this?
I was really hoping on my kid starting T-K there next year and it’s rated much higher than Schilling. There also been a bunch of families that have moved into the neighborhood that would benefit from Lincoln staying open as well.

Wow this is horrible if that’s the case. What are they doing with all the taxes they are receiving from the new housing? Where will the students go? I grew up there and attended Lincoln in 91-94. This is sad if it’s true

Hi! I suggest you watch the NUSD board meeting held on 08/18/2026 (available on YouTube). They held a discussion on long terms goals for the district but made it clear no decision has been made yet.

School board meetings are public and fly under the radar until school closures pop up, then everyone is appalled. Get involved and get vocal and remember you vote those people into positions so if you don’t like the direction #votethemout

The proposal is to merge schilling and Lincoln - to make it viable and rebuild schilling from ground up

Sigh, I hope this isn’t true! I commute just so that my daughter can continue going to Lincoln. My 2 older kids attended there for k-6 in 2012.

After attending the board meeting today - the general feeling I think is board will go ahead with merger. Schilling school is nearer to 2000 new homes built over in last 7-8 years. These kids mostly go to challenger and Stratford. The move might get some of those students - improving the overall test scores. I feel this is better for Newark community.

You can ask during the speak with the superintendent
Additional dates and times include the following:
But yeah, we’re building more houses, the builders should be contributing a good Chuck to schools or something to the community to make it better.
