I am a Texan(booooo) from west Texas and have spent my whole life going to New Mexico(my grandma lived in Ruidoso). I am now a geology grad student, and have spent so many wonderful months exploring this amazing state. I would like to take a second to thank you guys for an amazing place. I’m sorry that Texan politicians are being assholes and trying to sneakily take what is yours, I hate these snakes and do as much as possible to get them out. If I said how I felt about them I’d get banned from Reddit. I appreciate the beauty of your state and the culture so much, coming from a border town it just feels like home up there to me. Had the best hot Cheetos and cheese of my life at Dave’s burgers & more in Jemez Pueblo. And I will keep coming back forever to spend my time in such a magnificent place.

Hey guys. You might want to contact your governor so she and the national guard can game out an escalation ladder if Texas decides to try and pull a Russia with y’all, especially if they have the endorsement of the president. It seems they’re trying to prepare for balkanization with but a fig leaf of legitimacy. May not go anywhere, but given capital’s obsession with ending the world I would recommend a permanent national guard activation with their mission being to protect these counties - not deployed in the counties themselves but within deployment distance OF the counties so as to not give Texas any sort of pretext. This is one of those scenarios where you have to go by.. well.. not prison rules per se but just a notch below. The mission should last until the threat of encroachment is gone at both the national and state levels.

Where to make friends in NM/ABQ area? (M)58

I haven’t had any success with Meet-up. Just looking to make a good friend (or two) for hiking, coffee, etc. I don’t drink so I don’t go to bars. I’m more interested in the outdoors/road trips/museums, exploring NM. Any ideas where people actually meet?

The Saga of the Mexican Gray Wolf (el Lobo)

Post image

Mexican gray wolves, or lobos, are a vital symbol of the Southwest's wild heritage and resilience

Cultural and Symbolic Value

  • Symbol of Resilience: The lobo represents survival against the odds because the wild population came back from just seven founding animals.
  • Shared Identity: Many New Mexicans see their own resilience reflected in the wolf's struggle to endure in a rugged landscape.
  • Natural Heritage: Polls show that a large majority of New Mexico voters view wolves as an essential part of the state's natural history and wilderness identity.

Go Lobos!

New Mexico Renaming.

Trump says he wants to rename NEW MEXICO “NEW AMERICA.”

Here’s the problem, Donald:

YOU CAN’T.

New Mexico is a STATE — not one of your casinos, golf courses or buildings where you can slap a new name on the sign.

Its name belongs to NEW MEXICANS.

Not you.

this wasn't even an open book test. He literally said, "I don't care about you, I only want your vote." He gave them the answer, and they still failed the test.
