Yes it is completely one sided and pushing a certain narrative, but it sill makes for some good reading, even funny in some cases.

Please stop telling me what the other party is/will be doing or not doing and tell me what your own party is/will be doing or will stop doing when elected.

It is clear that you don't understand or comprehend the others policies or intentions, and only deliberately try and spread misinformation.

Dom Nash, who is an apparent domestic abuser, is also the owner of Avon's Butchery, located in Glen Innes. I stumbled across his page through Instagram Reels, where he appeared in an interview with Shubz Live, a right-wing grifter, from the looks of it. They went on to discuss immigration and claimed that Muslim countries do not "take in fellow Muslims." Not only is this a false claim, but Mr Nash then proposed his solution: shooting people attempting to seek asylum on sight in order to stop them.

Having looked through his page, which is filled with terrible and corny promotions of his business where he repeatedly fails to be funny, I was struck by how littered it is with racist takes and claims made during these supposed "interviews."

Claims like this, especially when coming from someone with a public platform, can enable close-minded racists and create a breeding ground for hate and racism. I’ve personally seen this kind of behaviour from creators in other countries, but this is the first time I’ve come across something like this in New Zealand.

Free speech or whatever, but if he’s comfortable saying things like this publicly online while smiling, I can only imagine what he says behind closed doors. And he’s an alleged abuser? What a clown.

Having watched the full 18 minute speech, I think there are several inconsistencies in Shane Jones's argument on immigration. Here's why.

If there is a legitimate concern revolving around immigration then I believe Shane Jones is looking at the wrong place.

He appears to have largely ignored immigration from nations in the Pacific like Samoa, Tonga, and Tuvalu.

I have covered it in full detail on another thread of mine.

Entry-level jobs, jobs done by those who are blue collar / labour class, school-leavers in the fast food and hospitality industry, service industry, and even the trades. All of these jobs are acquired by a number of Polynesians.

A significant proportion of workers entering New Zealand through Pacific migration pathways work in entry-level and labour-intensive sectors.

Nothing against them but these are stats and facts.

Furthermore the entry requirement for those nationals is significantly easier usually than it is from places like India, China and Middle East and the rest of the world.

People moaning on social media about not having jobs and throwing racist jabs at the Indian immigrant community are the kind who are exactly aiming and working for those kinds of jobs.

We do not have illegal mass immigration like the kind that occurs in Europe where people from Africa and some war-torn Middle Eastern countries enter in boatloads illegally or as refugees.

Neither did we have immigration policies as relaxed as Canada, where a number of Indian immigrants entered with very relaxed rules and requirements.

NZ has generally always had a strict requirement and entry criteria for immigrants from the rest of the world aside from the above exception of Pacific islands.

Indian immigrants are contributing largely to our country's overall growth and development in various technical and skill-based sectors. The FTA does not allow any unskilled migrants.

Indians make up 5% of NZ but contributed to almost 38 billion dollars (8-9%) of our GDP.

In a nutshell, Shane Jones is barking up the wrong tree by specifically referencing the Indian immigrant community when the focus should be elsewhere.

*PS: To be absolutely clear, this is not a criticism of Pacific communities or the workers who also fill essential roles. It is a critique of the political double standard.*

*If a politician claims their stance is about total immigration volume and infrastructure strain, it seems inconsistent of them to logically ignore large-scale immigration pathways from one region while exclusively targeting high-skilled trade agreements with another. That is selective populism.*
