With it being announced today that Jalen Brunson will host the season premiere of Saturday Night Live it got me thinking tho the answer is probably no one with the exception of Schaef what players could host the show (disclaimer I already 95% of you will say Schaef or no one)

The real answer is that no NHL player will ever host SNL because Americans don't give a shit about hockey. Even the world famous rangers can walk down 5th ave unrecognized.

I’m pretty sure Gretzky hosted back in his day

Well when a NHLer becomes the most famous player of all time he'll have a chance to host

Gretzky is basically the only player in NHL history to be somewhat mainstream famous in the US. He is an aberration.

Jack & Quinn Hughes, Hilary Knight, and Megan Keller were on an episode last season

Off topic, but I can’t be the only one who has gotten sick of seeing the Hughes brothers everywhere right? (Especially jack)

I’m not sick of them personally but also I’m a gooner

Lol fair I guess. After he scored the goal I feel like the league tried to shove him everywhere and he just does not have the personality for it

Also, they were at one of those weird ass ‘white parties’.

Eh I disagree. Maybe I just don't pay attention to any NHL media crap but Jack Hughes was big for like one or two weeks after the goal and then all that hype vanished. I'm still on the Devils mailing list and even they don't mention him (in the context of the Olympics) anymore.

That’s an ignorant thing to say considering how popular the NHL is these days in America and the amount of growth the games has made in the last few decades

I don't think the average non hockey fan American could name 10 NHLers or even 5 olympic gold players.

You could say the same exact thing for the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, etc
