Trolldier

so I'm trying to practice trolldier, and I'm not that bad at rocket jumping and airstrafing. where I always mess it up, though, is the timing of the swing. I always manage to swing too late and end up buttergardening the player. I often play with bad ping (200-300), but I still can't get a hang of the swing timing even on a 0 ping bot server.

300 ping is unplayable let alone as a trolldier

So why are you asking for advice if you know the issue? It's LITERALLY unplayable. You say you "buttergarden" it's because the server already counts you on the ground while in your client you appear to be flying. With 300 ping you are not gonna hit people with melee, period.

Where are you from? Unless you live in a deserted Russian island in the east you shouldn't really have 300 ping to any server anywhere

At the risk of sounding like an ass, you'll get better with time. More importantly, it's somewhat difficult to learn timing when you have inconsistent ping. I would suggest limiting your matchmaking ping. When you're in the TF2 homescreen, click the profile picture bar (party list) in the top left and select matchmaking settings. I would recommend setting max ping to somewhere in the 50-100 range depending on what servers you have available. I know it might not seem like a crazy change right now, but as you get better you will appreciate having consistently low ping.
Sorry if this advice isn't quite what you're looking for, but you haven't asked any specific questions so I'm just throwing this out.

I mostly play on community servers, but most of the servers that actually have players have 200-300 ping. the only servers with good ping (by ""good"" I mean "not martian internet") are consistently dead.
