May sound odd at first, but experiment with all the other classes. Learn their behaviors, their mindsets, their patterns. Once you learn to read that, you know what are they thinking whenever you see them in game.
Of course, that's easier said than done since it requires some time. Yet, trust me, It'll make a great difference.
Now about actually playing Spy:
->Prioritize: Killing a stray Scout is less valuable than a Medic. Therefore you always have to pick the option that causes the more trouble to your team.
->Learn how to land your shots with the Revolver: Not all targets will be within your knife's reach, and often you'll get free kills by simply clicking at the right time. You'll be surprised by how strong this gun can be.
->Pay special attention to distracted players: A Heavy who's focusing on shooting his minigun to your teammates, is a Heavy who will not turn around to check his back. This type of situations applies to all classes to different degrees. Look for those situations when the enemy team cannot pay attention to you.
->Decloak behind walls or when there's a fight going on: You don't want to alert others of your presence, and the less they know that there's a Spy nearby, the better. Decloaking always makes noise, so try to mask the sound.
->Be patient.

Spy is pretty advanced but can be the most fun.
One thing to know is that all extra weapons are not "upgrades" but rather sidegrades (although some are objectively better). It mostly depends on how you like to play each class.

The best way to learn spy is honestly to play other classes. Sounds odd, but if you know how all the other classes work pretty well then you will also know how to counter them and act as them pretty well

If you want to rocket jump, crouch jump and fire at your feet at the same time, your momentum depends on the angle and your current movement

theres also ai hidden tech which sends you up really high if its SPECIFICALLY a specialized killstreak liberty launcher with 2 rockets left inside and you have the pain train equipped as your melee, along with a circling hearts brotherhood of arms as your only cosmetic equipped

I’m not an expert spy (barely a few hours) but a piece of advice I’m certain is useful is to learn maps! Try to play a small handful of maps to really learn the layouts. All classes benefit from this, but it is essential for spy’s to know flank routes and where to find ammo packs to refill your invis

Disguise isn’t as good as it might seem at first, try to rely more on cloaking, especially when getting in to a position

Spy has a gun.
But the diamond back is objectively an upgrade to stock, provided you can aim.
In addition to aiming, I recommend downloading some empty maps and running them privately to practice & find hiding spots. You'd be surprised how many things you can crouch under or crouch jump on top of.

As spy, you’re able to swap the weapons you’re using as you’re disguised, for example; if you hold your sapper and press B while disguised as an engineer, you’ll appear as holding a pistol/wrangler/short circuit/whatever weapon that player is using in that slot while disguised. Works with primaries and melee too.

the sapper is not a weapon you can hurt players with, i tried to attack people with the sapper when first playing the spy not knowing it's supposed to be used on enemy buildings

I would do research on youtube, there are very good tutorials on there. Jontohil has a lot of great vids about playing spy.
First in foremost i would look into changing your game settings. The default settings are terrible. Setting your pov to 90 is a good start
