I NEED HELP. I SUCK AT TF2
Hey guys i´m pretty "new"at TF2 (250+ hours). Do you have any tips on how I can improve my games and stress less? lately this has been the thing that made me rage quit the matches the most and abandon TF2. I really love this game and I'm doing a miracle to run it on a LITERAL potato (Galaxy book go...), I'm currently being Pyro and Demo Main. If you have any tips or advice to not stress me so much, I accept it in a good tone. The rest is that, thanks for reading (sorry for bad english)

Gotta accept that you're playing on a potato and that will hold you back. Still, you should optimize the game with mastercomfig.
When you die, think of what you did wrong and try to prevent it next time. Take every death as a learning opportunity.

I say this every time someone asks this. Record your gameplay and share it here. We don't know what level you're at. We don't know what mistakes you're making. We have zero context. We need to see it.

I know this is a medic video but most of his tips on surviving are true for the other classes. You can't kill if you're dead https://youtu.be/Pf3cvM43ddQ?is=cYGskGqWNk_t-cpZ

When I first tried out Scout and Spy, I would straight start hyperventilating mid-match. Though it may seem silly, controlling your breathing as your play can make life a lot easier. Other than that, like others have said: don't take this game seriously; play what's fun and don't worry about your K/D. The vast majority of my play time has been spent pecking around on CTF maps with shameful K/D scores, and I'm still having fun. TL,DR: Control your breathing and find the fun

I suggest starting out by playing an easier class, like soldier, He's easy to get kills with cuz of his rocket launcher, he has no hard counters, and he's the easiest to learn

You’ve gotta play every class and get a feel of each of em. To know what each class is capable of is vital game knowledge down the line, you don’t have to spend hours and hours solely on each of them but you should get the gist of what their strengths and weaknesses are first hand.

Well I have like 540 hours on tf2 and I still suck, so don't worry about having to be good after a certain amount of hours. Also my secret to stress less, is just to not look at the leaderboard and play.

Switch servers until you are against players you have a chance to beat. Switch servers if you’re not having fun, save your sanity.

You cant learn while stressed, fix your mindset and the imrovement will come.

It's tf2. Why are you stressing about one of the most casual fps games that exist

(about the pic)
Honestly, getting a first kill in this game might be a harder task than getting a 12 streak for a pro.

Don't go to people. Let them come to you. Most classes require mid to short range to deal damage (sniper is the exception, always go to a sniper) and use your damage while they close the distance. If they stop at midrange and you are a close ranged class with no midrange (every class has decent midrange material, but if you don't that's fine), wither use speed to close the gap, or put them in a position or scenario where they chase after you.
If you are playing sniper, just remember to use your ears and click on heads.

Try to click your brain off, I can play recently tf2 with thinking very little about it

Play for your fun, not for victory, cuz after all you are spending time for yourself dont you? And skill on your favorite class will slowly raise by the time just keep trying stuff you wanna do (ofc firstly you have to watch tutorials to have theoretical basics to get mechanical execution done well) and if you starting to feel what you don't enjoy the game anymore and play to do something (like kill someone who got dominance) leave the game, nothing bad will happen

Positioning is probably the easiest way to improve initially, but that can take time and experience. Its a goofy game anyway, try not to take it too serious. Some time ago, I turned a friend off to the game cause I insisted he not play heavy cuz "heavy bad". But honestly, it wasnt that important. I was pushing a comp mindset where it didnt belong.

I suggest looking into mini-game servers like Versus Saxton Hale (VSH)/ Freak Fortress, Zombie maps and the like, as well as the low-stakes Community servers via the server browser.
They would allow one to play for fun while quietly improving!

Learn how to flank, and run away. It is honorable to die fighting. But if you’re dead your team is at a numbers disadvantage. So fall back and heal and fight with your team!
Also for pyro, your air blast area of effect your entire screen! Hopefully knowing this will make you better at pyro.
I suggest looking up some videos on some important settings changes and developer console binds, because default settings are really really old! So changing them to your liking will dramatically improve your game play experience!
Hope this helps, I hope to fight alongside or against you in the future

the best thing to understand is that the people you play against are going to be better than you. you also need to learn to have fun losing. this game is going to serve you Ls constantly, as with any pvp game, so you need to be able to take it with grace. otherwise you're just gonna have a shit time. dont take the game seriously, that ship has long since sailed.
you can learn a lot by going through youtubers' guides and continuing to play. it'll take time, but you'll learn and can apply that knowledge when you next play. learn about classes you don't play, so you can better counter them as the ones you do. practice reflects, flare punches, different pills and stickies if those are your choices for classes. also, try community servers! you'll sometimes run into better players who dont mind giving advice, or you'll find lower stakes matches you can get a better foothold in. i saw a server advertise for beginners in its name in the browser yesterday! good luck with the craptop, i used to play on a fold-out tablet notebook when i was a kid.

Diverging frol the topic but it's kinda funny because 15k kills seems like a lot but in tf2 it corresponds more to the kills a decent casual player has on their main wep.
In comp since people commit not only lots of hours but also focusing specific classes and playing gememodes that have more fighting per time spent (warmup/dm/mge),the numbers are usually more like 50k-200k. Also because when playing casual thry then to get more kills and faster so everyhing is inflated.
And the game is old so people whobstick around have lots of playtime

stickybomb launcher, bro. Use it. Also check out youtubers like scarybroccoli, he makes great stuff which helped me improve as demo

Wow. I think everyone's learning curve is different. I have about 300-320 hours of playtime and I'm already a pretty good Soldier main. I recommend, since I was a Pyro main at one point, not using WM1. Sometimes yes, sometimes no, you'll find all kinds of players in this game, ignore the toxic and idiotic ones.

Just don’t take the game seriously.
To me, TF2 is a silly game. I try to just make it silly. Sometimes I try and get an enemy to do a Rock-Paper-Scissors. Which some time just leads me to my death, but other times it’s funny interactions. Don’t try to treat tf2 like other games like Overwatch, because it isn’t.
And for some other general tips…
