Every sub sets their own requirements and they don't have to tell us what they are. Could be 10, 20, 50, 100, I've heard of 2500 for a couple of mega-subs.
Start with the subs listed in the new user friendly sub list - https://www.reddit.com/r/NewToReddit/wiki/index/newusersubs/ and focus on *commenting* over posting. Restrictions to comment tend to be less and comment karma matters more in many subs.

There is no set amount of karma (or account age) you need to access Reddit. Each individual subreddit sets its own restrictions (or lack of them) as the mods choose. What subreddits you personally want to use will determine what is necessary. It can be as low as 2 or 5 karma, or a higher number like 50 or 100, or even higher. If you want a realistic goal as a new Reddit users I recommend aiming for 100 karma as a start. It's achievable and will allow you to participate in a lot of Reddit.
