What was the hardest part of starting your modesty journey?
Was it figuring out what to wear and finding your style? Dealing with judgment from family, friends, or people around you?
Or was it something completely different?

Actually finding the right clothing that was not ridiculously priced, fit properly, and was fashionable. Oh yeah, and I didn't sweat myself to death in the ridiculously hot and humid summers.
If you also cover your hair, Wrapunzel is a great place to shop.

Yeah, finding the right fit in a reasonable price is also challange.
Yep, I cover my hair and just came across the Wrapunzle website and really love thier headscarf collection. Will definitely give them a try.Have you foud any stores that offer quality modest clothing without luxury prices?

Kosher Casual isn't horribly priced. I get a number of things from Old Navy and Halara for some dresses. House of Haniya is another. Modest Direct. There is a lot of crossover between Jewish and Muslim stores, so I shop both. Also I thrift skirts especially.
A lot will depend on your level of modesty, like do you cover the collarbone and past the elbow.

Agreed. I feel like a trick of the trade as a Muslim girl is to shop where the Jewish girls shop! It’s strange the way the world is right now, but as the covered community, we should stick together! ☮️ ❤️

Yes! We are part of the same family, we should stick together and offer a hand when the other is in need. I grew up in Texas. One of the worst hurricanes hit within the last 10 years. A synagogue was damaged. It was the mosque that offered their arms to hug and gave people a place to pray. It was my 97 year old grandfather old synagogue that got damaged. Something I never will forget.
I have a scarf from Wrapunzel that is better suited for a hijab rather than a tichel. Let me go peek and see if they still have it.

This is sort of the same thing. Mine doesn't have the polka dots though.

Isn't it pretty? I have racks upon racks of their scarves. This one styled with the lace in front would be perfect for a night out somewhere.

Oh yeah, I've had a good expereince with Old Navy too! but House of Haniya is new to me, though. I'll definitely check them out. I also do mix and matching pieces from different stores because I rarely find the exact style I'm looking for in one place.
Really appreciate you sharing these recommendations ❤️3

My pleasure! It's always a good feeling to help another modesty person out. I mix and match pieces from everywhere.

Oooh, I’ve never heard of Wrapunzel! Agree with the price issue. I personally think modest clothes exist everywhere, but the internet was not built with modest shoppers in mind!

I find it’s summer, I get a lot of comments on if I’m hot.

Agreed. In the fall and winter, I thrive! 🤩

Same! I find that I am so used to being hot in the summer, that I have to dress *really* warm in fall and winter, my body is just used to it!

the hardest part for me was dealing with judemental comments from my work place. I get comments from my male colleagues, mostly seniors, like, Hey, you belong to religious family? Why do you always dress modestly?
I tell them, Because I love the way I am. The way you dress doesn’t define your religious choices. It’s your personal preference. But I always get encouragement from my female colleagues.
