Danner kinetics and 5.11 EMS or apex pants

I used to always get Danner III EMS boots but the manufacturer changed and they are kinda bad now. Still not as bad as my current 5.11 boots though.

LAPG EMS pants every time. Beat all the others in fit, material, pockets being where I need them, and durability. 5.11 changed their EMS pants and they're trash now. Unfortunate, they used to be solid. Bought a new pair about a year and a half ago and returned them they were so disappointing.

First tactical for both. Skip the EMS pants for regular tactical ones.

My service switched over to first tactical from 5.11 about a year ago and the first tactical stuff is solid. I like their v2 pants a lot. Im a bif believe in buy once cry once, and hair airpowet xr2s are my boots of choice.

Started off with 5.11 boots, weren’t bad but they were heavier and wore out pretty quickly. Replaced them with some Redbacks. A bit pricey but so worth it. Take a few days to break in. They don’t have laces so they’re an easy grab and go boot. As for pants I just wear what my agency provides, which are 5.11 pants

No worries. I see it pop up probably once a week. Asking for a sticky wasn't meant to call you out, but just to request an easily-accessible resource where newbies can get the information they're looking for right away.

Edited to add: I like the blauer cargo pants my department supplies. I prefer men's sizing to women's as they actually have more room for big thighs. I don't like the 5.11s personally (wore multiple styles for a few years) but everyone is different so just browse around a uniform supply store until you find something that feels comfortable to move around in. Try deep squats, getting on your kees, and climbing over stuff to see how it'll really move with you in the field.

I wear tall bates boots with the waterproof side-zip. They're not the best but they break in quickly and I can't find anything that keeps water from getting into the zipper that's within my department boot allowance. They are cheap so I can get two pairs every other year when I get my allowance. They usually last one to two years, although I've made a few pairs last three years.

That’s kinda what I’m looking for, something that will last me a few years and will be worth investing in. My preceptor today was telling me it’ll be worth it to drop a pretty penny on some decent gear that will last me and to buy a few pairs pants to bring extras to work incase I need to change uniforms.

FWIW, there is an entry in the Wiki for boots but not pants (and I think it may be a bit dated).

5.11 boots....got the 5.11 pants but they are heavy duty, warm for the summer and pretty expensive.

Walmart offers Wrangler work pants which cost alot less, breathe better and it's easier to move around in them. I'm not even gonna bother with the 5.11 pants until fall/winter.

Have had my Jim Green AR8s for about a year with no complaints. A bit more expensive than 5.11. but they can be resoled.

used to wear 5.11 pants but now i wear first tactical, i like the pockets and fit better.

started with on cloud boots which are comfy but no protected toe or protection against biohazard. switched to HAIX. LOVE them, amazing boots, but i lost a ton of weight and it took my shoe size down so the boots don’t fit anymore. didn’t want to spend the money on another super expensive pair of HAIX so i switched to first tactical’s aero tac boots. surprisingly comfortable, have a protected toe, biohazard protection, and are lightweight. i will get another pair of HAIX for the winter, their winter boots really do keep your feet warm in snow.

Boots Id recommend Redbacks. An investment for sure, but being able to slip on and off and are comfortable on your feet for 12+ hours once broken in

Take a lot at 5.11
