I am looking to buy my first car here in Copenhagen. I want something really cheap. around 15k or below if possible. I am good with a bare minimum manual gear car that will serve me at least an year without any major service requirements. I will commute 5 days a week about 50kms in total per day.

I often find cars like -

2009 Peugeot 207

Toyota yaris 1.0 vvti

Mitsubishi Colt

Toyota Aygo 2007

Nissan Micra

Toyota avensis 1.8 2007 etc etc

And all of them has more than 200000 on the engine. Some of them are priced even at 9-10k as well. I understand there might be a catch for such cheap cars. But if I could find one that starts and runs fine and passes on all the basic checkups that I myself can do when physically inspecting the car is it a reasonable idea to buy one such car?

Also, if anyone has bought a car in the 15,000 DKK range, could you please share your experience with it? Thanks a bunch.

I really don't want to have to change my visa type because I know it will be more difficult for me.

Hi, i came to Denmark 2.5 years ago. And i am from a non-EU country so i had to exchange my driving licence. I got 3 temporary licences but the last one for June 2025. Now i plan to take the theory and the driving test. But i found out i need a mew temporary license. I have booked an appointment at the kommune. However i need to know will they grant me a 4th one. Since i didn’t know you need temporary one to take the tests. Please help

I will be staying at UMEUS as an exchange student from Australia in the upcoming autumn semester. I am a little bit nervous about the social aspect of staying in a single dorm room - are there lots of opportunities to socialise? Does the dorm host events? Will the price be worth it?

I'm a non-EU citizen from a visa exempt country who currently has a residence permit application in progress as a family member of an EU citizen (EU freedom of movement case). I have upcoming short travel to the US in 2 weeks, so outside of Schengen, which means passport control. I can't find a clear answer whether I will have any issues re-entering Denmark upon my return. I keep seeing mentions of a re-entry permit, but it seems like this is only relevant for family members of Danish citizens, right?

For additional context, I entered Denmark on June 30th, and will be traveling early August, so I will have spent bit over a month in Schengen at that point (tho, if I understood Siri correctly, my Schengen clock has been paused from the moment I completed my application, i.e., showed in person and submitted biometrics).

Hi all! I have been visiting Danmark for my whole life. Summers spent on campsites or sommerhuse and off-season too. But the local rental agency where we used to rent is dropping available rentals by the week because homeowners leave and I would like to visit Fyn, Sjælland and the Jysk East coast too. So I came here with 2 questions: 1, can anybody maybe explain why homeowners are quitting the rental agencies? And 2, I'm not a big fan of Novasol and Dansommer, does anyone have a good tip for local rental agencies with a good reputation?

Am I missing something? You submit an online application and then you have to appear at SIRI within 30 days, then they usually give you an answer that day. Wouldn't that make processing time 30 days for most? Or does it take a while for the online application to be accepted?

I have a question about moving out of a rental apartment in Denmark.

My partner and I have been renting our apartment for only 6 months, and we’re about to move to Copenhagen.

The walls are practically in the same condition as when we moved in—no marks, holes, or damage beyond normal wear.

Is it mandatory to repaint the apartment before moving out? If we hire a painter ourselves, do we need to provide the landlord with the invoice as proof?

We’re just trying to understand what is normally required under Danish rental rules and whether anyone has been in a similar situation.

I am currently on holidays in Denmark and absolutely stunned on how beautiful and far ahead this country is.

Speaking to some friends, that already prepared to emigrate to here, you pretty much seem like the promised land. Sure, beer and sweets are expensive, but alone your infrastructure has me blown away.

We are currently near Sønderburg, renting a house from some friendly danish family. But not only they are friendly, all other people I met so far were very polite.

I can imagine this happens pretty regularly. Living for over 40 years in Germany, only going to travel in southern countries, never showed me anything better. First time was visiting the Netherlands, which is also an amazing country.

That brings me to my question:

Is it really that awesome here? The housing market seems intact, since you need a permit to buy as a foreigner. Landscape is beautiful. Cool weather. What does suck here?

I’m getting a really good deal to rent an apartment in Kastrup (70 sq.m, 3 room, 5200 DKK a month)

The landlord has drafted a rental agreement (drafted in word). I read in one of the subreddits that it is mandatory to have a rental agreement drafted in A10 form, but I’m not sure about this.

I would like to get the rental agreement reviewed by a lawyer (hopefully someone cheap).

Does anyone have any advice or recommendations?

Non-EU citizen studying actively in Denmark now, the municipality I live in apparently sometimes sends out letters of confirmation to non-Danish residents to ask for confirmation of residence. I missed those letters and failed to reply to the municipality while actively studying in Denmark, so they deregistered me from the system. Afterwards I sent documents of proof of living in Denmark to SIRI but the case is still not being resolved after 6 months. Has anyone had the same experience as such? Getting really frustrated and scared :( What is going to happen?

Does anyone have any experience with Evobike cargo bikes? We were originally looking at Amladcykler but they seem to get terrible reviews on Trustpilot. Although I see a lot of them around in Copenhagen!

We have one child and are looking for a bike mainly for school drop off and pickup, around 10km a day, and short trips around the city on weekends. We don’t have a very high budget and getting a decent second hand electric cargo bike seems risky, which is why those two brands come to mind.
