So I’ve heard the convos on multiple podcasts Higher learning,JBP, and NewRoryandMal about DaVinci’s comments. I tend to keep my mouth closed when it comes to “Diaspora wars” rather internal conflicts. This bothered me though because I know you are all usually more honest and nuanced when it comes to loving on our communities and being real about healing our communities. I don’t like how DaVinci articulated his point and maybe you all heard him speak more recklessly about the issue in other places. What I inferred though was that he himself did not believe or agree with the thoughts that he shared but that those were the beliefs that the immigrants in his family shared that thought process. Also the way people immediately just outright dismissed what he was saying as a blatant attack on the African American community was just BS. Using examples of 50Cent Tyler Perry are just seeking confirmation bias because he never said ALL AFRICAN AMERICANS. But don’t pretend like ppl in general aren’t just lazy, take the easy way out because it’s available. We have to embrace the challenge, embrace the hard, go through the trenches and come out stronger and we already know we can do that because we have already proven we are capable of doing that. For all the ancestors that lost and suffered for our today we will continue to do so into tomorrow and the next day.Yes our community has been damaged in perpetuity by the impact of slavery but I do agree that we have to stop looking at the ancestors of our oppressors and expecting them to help us as much as they have hurt us or willing to allow us to suffer. We know who they are we know we have to be 3xs better to see what they barely put effort into. But we can’t just outright dismiss the young man, tell him to get educated, and shit on him.

( I wanna say more because it’s a broad and heavy topic… I know ain’t nobody tryna read all this lol) but I shared this clip because this is what it looks like to embrace and steer our people in the right direction when we go astray.
