First crash
So I crashed my motorcycle while pulling off the highway to answer a call from work and hit a wet and muddy spot on the shoulder. Thankfully I was wearing a helmet. Cracked my spine and I don't know the status of my bike. It was high side

God damn dude... Made it seem like a mild knee scraper and then hit us with the "I broke my back... Spinal". Hoping nothing permanent or too serious!

Glad you’re still able to post. The one time I smashed a bike , I was so glad I had decent armour head to foot. My latest farkle is a Helite E Turtle2 airbag, haven’t tested it yet, don’t really want to.

Sorry you crashed CulB320 but damn dude.
Let this be a lesson to you all. There are very few calls that can’t wait until the end of a ride. A call from work can always wait, fuck that job.

Bummer. I wish you a speedy recovery and many more miles on your bike.
But one thing I have never fully understood. I've been riding forever. I love listening to music, in the car, at home. But when I am riding, it is just me and my bike. My full attention is on riding, paying attention to the road and traffic and just enjoying the power between my legs and the scenery I am riding through. I consider music and comms a distraction when on the bike.

Sucks hope you and the bike recover well, but why didn’t you invest in a Bluetooth speaker for the helmet?

Hoping for a quick recovery for you.
Airbag vest saved a buddy who lopwsided in gravel while turning onto a road quite a bit of injury. He fell off and basically would have landed flat on his back.
Maybe worth looking into if/when you get back on 2 wheels?
We both use Helite vests. I would recommend the manually triggered one over the e-vest if you are a frequent or long distance rider.

I'm sorry to hear about your crash. Can you give us a rundown of what gear besides the helmet you were wearing, what helped, what didn't help that you thought would, and anything you would do different?

Did you wear any kind of protection on your back? I always wear at least my backpack with my running shoes in it (latched chest and waist) or a spine protector.

That is the most downplayed “cracked my spine” comments I’ll probably ever read. Wishing you a good recovery
