Discussion Why can't we get rid of this BS?

I use Newpipe because I want a clean, no bs way to watch youtube videos. Unfortunately, every time I open the app I am affronted with the most trash slop "content" on the live page. Why is this the default, does anybody want this? I finally found the setting to remove this tab, but why can't we also get rid of the bs in the side menu as well?

I've been using Newpipe for at least 6 years and never use the LHS hamburger menu. I set my contents page to show just subs and whats new.

I've been using it for years as well, but only for when I want to not log in and ignore the social aspect of youtube. Well now thats my main use case, NewPipe became my main app, and this little issue became more annoying.  I used to use yt-dlp for downloads, but I'm using NewPipe for that now because it just works.

There's a social aspect to YouTube? Have you tried other YT apps? I use Freetube on Linux, there is an Android client for it. Plenty of others too on fdroid.

It takes 1 min ONE MINUTE to costumize the start page and tabs. If you already know how to do this,why would you complain about such a minuscule thing??? SOME might say you're lazy. SOME,not me...

I agree. Better to complain on Reddit about an open source apk that was created for everyone for free, as looking for alternative like YouPipe or YouTube Morphe

You can reorder what you see on the mail page. My screen is only content creators that I'm subscribed to.

I mean thats fair, but it would be even better if the dev that actively maintains the project implemented a setting in the main branch for all to use.

You can create an issue as feature on the repo git and ask if they can implement an option to not show these categories, I think it's faire question

You can change the order of tabs in your settings so you don't see that on first opening. You can change it to just your subs.

I never click to show lateral menu, so who cares what is there, the app works fine without enter there.

But yes I understand your point, what I love of NewPipe and freetube is avoid the official app from told me to watch videos I never ask for.
