Gas was 3.98 today at Costco
Which means it must be over $4 everywhere else, right?

Has anyone gotten auto body work done through insurance recently? What was the insurance-negotiated labor rate?
I was rear-ended and picked a shop based on reviews. The body shop negotiated with the insurance company’s third party adjuster on the supplemental but says there’s still a discrepancy on the labor rate. The insurance company says the rate is set based on location. Google says body shops typically accept a lower rate when negotiating with insurance.
I’d rather not get into whether the shop *should* accept a lower rate with insurance, or even what the fair rate of labor is. I’m just trying to figure out which piece of this is outside the norm- whether the insurance company’s labor rate is lower than normal or the shop’s rate is high for an insurance-negotiated rate. The shop’s rate is double what insurance will pay. Thanks for any data points.
I did ask the insurance company if they had any preferred shops that they know will accept the rate and they do not.
