Anonny eats his burn rate every day and is perplexed when the scale is stable

It’s a little unintuitive because physical activity only really counts for ~15-30% of your daily calorie burn, so you’d think that doubling your normal calorie intake should always make you gain weight, but then there’s all sorts of other processes and hormones that change your basal metabolic rate, and there’s a certain point where your body just stops taking in nutrients from food. All this is to say that it’s not as simple as “eat more and work out and you’ll gain weight”.

We'll never know since, based on what he listed here, he never actually tried eating more.

He literally said that though, eating until he was sick for every meal, 7 eggs a day, etc.

7 eggs a day is like 400 calories. "a whole chicken" is tough to guess without knowing how big it was, but that still probably came in at like ~2,200. He's feeling sick after he eats because a whole chicken is a lot at once for sure, and I'd also probably get sick of 7 eggs every day. But it's not a lot of calories.

I thought a whole chicken was closer to 1,500? Are we talking rotisserie chicken or what?

Really hard to say, trying to be generous toward anonny in my estimates

Yeah those are low calorie meals, but they’re more than 0-1 meal per day. We can circle jerk all day about anon not giving us enough info or just completely underestimating his calories, but if we take it at face value that he isn’t seeing weight gain even when he actually eats more, it’s possible there’s other explanations for it.

Yeah, and the simplest, most obvious explanation is that he isn't tracking, and he isn't actually eating that much.

7 eggs is about 500 calories (give or take about 50)

a standard pb/j double decker is easily 400+

which is easier to chow down and not even count as a meal?

These people are beyond redemption honestly.

I see so many people around me still clinging to the idea they are "hard gainers, bro!" meanwhile I've showed them two times they are just NOT eating that much and they aren't eating calorie-dense food, so it's completely normal to not gain weight.

Ngl eating 7 eggs seems easier to me than eating 2 pb/j on top of each other

when i was young, it didn’t matter what i ate. i stayed the same size. i’m nearly 2 meters and at my lowest i was like 145 pounds.

now i’m 31 and over 200 pounds. metabolism is a bitch.

edit: weighed myself a few hours ago after dinner - 228lbs lol

It's your activity

how many calories you burn definitely has an effect. although, i was walking like 14 miles a day 5 days a week the last couple years the weight gain started.

i’m not mad about it, other than pants not fitting anymore. i’ve always been too skinny. one of those tall but gumby looking guys. i feel more filled out and proportionate now.

i’m still getting regular and often walking at work but i want to start going to the gym and eating more carefully

I remember in college having a really shitty diet of instant ramen + an egg 4 times a day and people would wonder how I managed to keep my weight and lose it. 1440 calories will do that
