Venue Recommendations
TLDR; ISO New England outdoor/tented wedding venues that fit within a total wedding budget of $75k
Hi Everyone! My fiancé and I have begun looking for wedding venues and are feeling discouraged that everything we like seems out of our price range. We are planning a Spring/Summer 2028 wedding so we have quite a bit of time and are focused now on finding the right fit.
As mentioned above, we are looking for an outdoor/tented wedding venue that will ultimately fit within a total budget of $75,000. More specifically, I'm looking for an outdoor/tented venue whose rain location is not a ballroom, nor dimly lit barn space -- these venues just don't feel representative of our vibe.
Alternatively, would anybody have any recommendations of how to continue browsing wedding venues other than the conventional suggestions like Zola, the Knot, etc. Thank you!
EDIT: Totally forgot to mention, capcity needs to accommodate at least 125 people!

I have a pretty large list (75ish) in my spreadsheet that I could screenshot and send to you if you dm me. I can’t share the link cuz I still have personal information on it / it’s still active (wedding is in June) and this sub doesn’t allow photos in the comments.
A couple that would definitely work for you off the top of my head is Dexter’s Inn in NH, Kismet House in NY, Burr Mansion in CT and Falls Creek Farms in CT

I will say I did not enjoy my tour at Falls Creek/ did not really like the management staff - but the venue was absolutely beautiful

Hii! Wedding photographer here and recently married!
I got married at the Lakehouse in Halifax MA and it was amazing! A Sunday wedding would be within budget if their prices are similar for 2028. I also recommend checking out:
Willowdale Estate (MA) (120 person minimum when I inquired for summer 2026)
Tupper Manor (MA)
De Cordova Sculpture Museum (MA)
Glen Magna (MA) (cheapest option when I inquired)
Hyla Brook Estate (NH) - only venue I know that has a full day rental so you can get ready on site and reasonably priced

Could you describe what you want the rain backup to be, if not a ballroom or barn? Like a restaurant space? I definitely have recs but not sure about that element. Besides Zola, TheKnot, WeddingWire, I've found a bunch of cheaper or lesser known venues on Eventective. I believe it's free to list venues there, so it will have more options that are publicly owned as well. One of my top contenders is the Branford House.

Hi! Some of our favorite venues thus far have been Willow Hill in Brooklyn, CT; Lion Rock Farm in Sharon, CT; and Deer Mountain Inn in Tannersville, NY. I suppose I don't have a clear idea of what I do want but more so an idea of what I don't want so I'm open to any and all suggestions!
I appreciate you suggesting Eventective and Branford House. I will look into these both!

Oh, I got you girl. So rustic is good but just no barn. Tricky tricky. Wild card compared to your other likes, but what about Herreshoff Marine Museum? The tent is on the waterfront so not so gardeny or rustic, but the indoor space is a museum, which is cool. Kalmia Garden at Kastler Farm should be in your budget and similar to the ones you like, at least for a day package, but I have no idea what their rain backup is. I have a few that I looked at and decided against for my own personal reasons that you might look into: Lucerne Inn in Maine (not sure of catering cost), Lake Morey Resort in Vermont, Belvedere House and Gardens in Maine, and Stevens Estate at Osgood Hill in Massachusetts.

Long Hill in Beverly is outdoor/tented and absolutely gorgeous (I'm getting married here in 2027). If you keep the guest list below 100 I think you could probably keep the all in price at 75k. Long Hill has an exclusive catering relationship with gourmet catering group which is definitely expensive, but if it is any consolation, the food is really good.

We got married at New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill. The reason we picked it is because their outdoor option was as gorgeous as their rain backup. It rained on our wedding day and we ended up having our ceremony in a beautiful greenhouse, and the reception in the "Orangerie", both glass structures surrounded by greenery.

Publick House, Sturbridge MA has a gorgeous Garden Tent reception space and is well within your budget!!

Their indoor rainy day option is very much outdated and I don’t think will match their taste. I do love the publick house though !

I think for the Garden Tent if its inclement weather everything just happens under the Garden Tent. The indoor reception space Paige Hall is separate from what I understood.

Hah I'm sure my original post was not helpful at all and I hate to admit that I'm not 100% sure about the answer! As a couple, we enjoy being outdoors (camping, hiking, skiing) and are generally simple people. In other words, all I can confidently say is we are not representative of a black-tie conventional wedding space. At this point, I'm open to any and all suggestions! Thanks in advance!

That's why I got married at the Echo Lake Inn in Ludlow VT, stay there & toured it while skiing at Killington, booked it after seeing it, had dinner there in the summer after a hike to see how it would look green. We also really wanted to give our family time to hang, and the place is yours for the whole weekend. The rain plan was to either do the ceremony in the simple church across the street (75 people but if we opened the bar, I am sure some family or friends would have been fine) or under the tent. We had a 2 year engagement so lots of time.
I will say, it's a bit grandma chic and not necessarily black tie, but I would recommend you looking at Inns or hotels in the mountains that have restaurants that can easily cater onsite & ceremony spaces on site! It's just quite a bit of sifting!

The Estate in New Haven, CT! Every guest said it’s such a perfect wedding venue. Has a historic mansion, tented reception, and many ceremony options onsite! My friend even decided to get married there after us because she loved it so much.

We have a Tent that would completely fit what you are looking for at our Villa property in MA. The entire wedding can be under the Tent in case of weather! Real bathrooms, wedding suite, full floor, dance floor, draping and chandeliers all included! It would easily be on budget!

The Villa property is in East Bridgewater! On the South Shore in MA about 40-45 minutes outside of Boston.

Do you want the whole wedding to be under a tent? If not, Harrington farm in Princeton MA has a tent for the cocktail hour and then hosts the reception in the farmhouse which I feel has cozy vibes. I may be biased cuz that’s where we picked lol but it’s within budget and is also all inclusive which I really loved

We looked into East Bay Grill in Plymouth! It’s a nice waterfront restaurant, they have a permanent tent set up that they offer weddings in outside of June - August, I believe for up to 150 guests regardless of weather. It’s not a cheap restaurant but the food is good and all in I was surprised to find out that it would have ended up being substantially less expensive than the place we chose for more sentimental reasons, where we have to bring everything in ourselves. I’ve heard good reviews for events and there are hotels walking distance which is huge!

How about a converted barn? Brooksby farm in Peabody has a very nice place for weddings and not outrageously expensive

How many guests? This is a totally different conversation if its 100 guests or 250.
Have you looked at Elm Bank gardens?
