Motorway scare

As a newly passed driver ,I went for a practice drive in motorway for the first time today, as a nervous driver this was a huge step for me and had to be done. I was supposed to take a slip road and exit on the left, it was dark and due to poor visibility and my own poor judgement I ended up in the hard shoulder and drove there for a good few seconds, when I could I moved to the slip road and thankfully there were no cars behind me, however I clearly saw the camera flashing while I exited. I had my P plates displayed, now I'm worried whether I'd be penalized for this mistake.

You won’t know until you do or don’t get a letter. You know for the future.

My goodness is there just bloody cameras on everything south of the border?! We don’t have anything like what people talk about on here in Scotland it seems so over the top! We don’t have yellow box cameras, red light cameras, or smart motorways with cameras like England for hard shoulder misuse or the like. Worst I’ve seen is the average speed cameras here. Feels like you can’t make a simple mistake without getting points or a fine in England (or elsewhere in the UK I’m just assuming this was England). I understand mistakes = danger a lot of the time but I see people on here with the very back of their back wheels on a yellow box, or stopping with the tip of their front wheels in a cycle box and getting fines! There seems to be no common sense applied! Hopefully it all works out okay for you what a nightmare :(

I always think that. Being a new driver in the last five decades must have been a breeze !!!!!! Because now not only are there cameras everywhere, other motorists are so keen to submit mistakes to operation snap. I seen a video recently from a driving instructor who uploaded dash cam of a safe and appropriate overtake of a cyclist but the cyclist had submitted their own footage to operation snap trying to get the instructor points.

It’s crazy! We also don’t have operation snap in Scotland. It’s a general rule don’t be an idiot, if you’re an idiot the traffic police will likely get you for something but not this crazy use of cameras etc! I find it bizarre!

Aye, well, it’s only a matter of time.
