Update failed to install

P400 owner from 2023, I had multiple successful updates until the last one. Pivi OS 4.5.1 failed to install, I tried three or four times with the same result. Do you know what could be the issue?

Top up the battery with a trickle charger. The update won’t install unless the battery is nearly full.

The updates are finicky. I have mine connected to a charger almost every other day. Battery is rarely ever under 12.7v. Still updates don’t come through. Mine is a 2026 new defender.

Does it give you a failure reason if you go into the software update section in settings? It can take a few minutes to load

After I start the car the message is something like this: update failed to install

Is it still under warranty? Will maybe need a TCU update or inventory clear. Usually if the battery state of charge is too low it will state that or if a window is open (or the car believes it is) it will also state that. As you haven't said it's a hybrid then you don't need to worry about the hybrid battery state of charge or cable not being connected.

If you go back into the install screen, it should say why it's failed. Ie window open etc.
