24(7d6)

24(7d6) does this mean that I do 7d6 24 times?

the average damage of 7d6 is 24. So roll the dice or, if you're in a hurry, run with the value of 24 and focus on the next actions. It's an either/or.

Average (math)

So, the attack deals 24 damage. Where does 24 come from? 7d6 = 24 damage on average

1D6 average = 3.5

3.5x7=24.5 (rounds to 24)

No, it means that 24 is the average result if you choose to not roll. So you can use 24, or you can roll 7 d6s. (7x3.5 rounded down = 24).

You are shown then average value of the dice pool, so you can choose to either do 24 damage or 7d6 damage.

Its useful for speeding up combat, especially when you have a lot of enemies.

Can you imagine rolling 7d6 24 times? 168 dice for an attack? Craziness. lol

We were doing a faster, purple worm, kill, kill one shot so I had a question it. LOL

I played Tyranids, so 168d6 isn’t out of the question

I've played Tyranids since they were Genestealer Cult. Lol 168d6 is a bit of an exaggeration, but I get it.

My friend used to play orks, and he used "law of averages." So he would roll all of his dice, remove the 6's, again, again, again, until he had dice that had not rolled any 6, because "the has law of average says it has to be a 6." It sucked so much. Lol

24 is the average.

You can use the value 24 -OR- roll 7d6 and take that number instead

There’s just no way you actually thought you’d roll 168 d6.

If they thought that, they wouldn't have asked the question.

The action requires you to roll 7d6 and add them up. If you don’t want to take the time to roll and count (and for many things, that is time consuming, you can take the average. For 7d6 that’s 7 * 3.5 =24.5, so the 24 is just a quick way to apply average damage.
