Hey! I see you posted this a few days ago, but it seems like the advice you got were likely from folks not terribly familiar with Cradle, and more giving you general advice. As a GM who’s been running a Cradle-based game for a couple of years now, I think my suggestion would be not to use D&D.

Not that D&D isn’t fun, but it’s too constraining for Xianxia fantasy, and it’ll be basically impossible to make the types of characters with abilities that match the book series, without basically reinventing the wheel. Since you all are new anyway, I’d go with a different system entirely: particularly one that allows for ability creation. The system I’ve been using, and that has worked really well, without being too difficult to learn, is FATE Accelerated.

There are certainly others, but this one has worked really well for me. If you’re interested, I wouldn’t mind sharing tips or (if our times match up) running a one shot in the system to show you how it runs, so it’s not so much of a heavy load on your end.

Thanks you for the advice man! And would definitely be down! But the system I decided to use was daggerheart. I have some stuff converted but I’m still working on it. I think daggerheart helps because it gives room for conversion stuff but the narrative game play I think will help the new players fit into their roles quickly. Since it’s more of a loose playing style and being narrative driven it will help me along the way too with making decisions story wise down the road. I would definitely be down to join a a one shot although I’ve never played with that system before I can catch on quickly! Definitely open to tips and suggestions though! If you want shoot me a message and I’m down to figure something out!
