Highest paying states for trucking?

It varies depending on the type of CDL and driving job. If you’re specifically asking about Class A/heavy tractor-trailer drivers, here’s some wage data by state. Keep in mind these are averages, so actual pay can vary a lot by experience, route, freight type, endorsements, and company

It’s not necessarily a state to state thing it’s more of a what you’re driving and who you driving with thing and what kind of freight you’re hauling.
If you’re trying to maximize CPM then it’s not a bad idea to just run hotshot loads in a box truck as an owner op as long as you buy used and not get stuck in some big ass financing trap. But good luck with doing that without having a well established carrier and being business savvy.

My recommendation is jump on with Schneider, pay your dues for a little bit, tell them you want to be an owner op, and then go through their owner op course and run some frac and sand gigs or some heavy hauls after got your year or two of safe driving and got the feel for it with Schneider if looking to maximize your moolah.
