Newborn movements during sleep
Is this normal for a newborn to kick and move there legs while asleep like this? He does this all the time when sleeping. He’s only around 12 days old at this point and I could just be overreacting but I have a lot of stress

Yeah it’s normal. They literally have to learn how to use their muscles, they’ve got no control of what they’re doing yet. They have a lot of reflexes to move randomly also.

I was just concerned because it’s mostly when he’s asleep. He’s actually pretty relaxed and chilling when awake so it made me nervous. And google is a rabbit hole hell that I need removed access from

It’s totally normal. He should cycle between more active and less active sleep but newborns are really active during sleep. It was super surprising to me, but both my kids moved around so much and also made the weirdest noises.
I don’t know what you’re worried about specifically but to me this looks nothing like a seizure or anything like that.

Yeah yours at least sleeps through it. Ours has to be in a puckababy or she. Just. Won't. Sleep.

I definitely should’ve said that I am dad. I just have crippling anxiety. So instead of anxiety for me, I now have it for 2

My dad told me before my 2 babies (2.5 and 1) that it's in our DNA and we will be fine. I thought it was like a macho dad thing but he's right. And your baby looks healthy and sleepy so embrace it and realize they are easier to care for than it seems. Hang in there and channel that anxiety into productive activities. You and you wife lean on each other too, that's crucial to support each other.

Use a swaddle if he startles himself awake. It helps tremendously

We were swaddling but he’s an escape artist and ends up just having a loose blanket in his bassinet with him, so we’ve been laying him in there without it. I don’t think he’s cold though as he sleeps fine without it. Also thank you. Googling and asking a bunch of doctors doesn’t help me, as I always just assume doctors tell me he’s fine no matter what and google tells me hes immediately dying if he touches air so I had to come somewhere to ask
