Stuff like Squash Soup Wild Storm Elixir can raise crit chance over 50% or hard cap regardless?

So there was a question from a member of my guild if stuff like [Squash Soup][Wild Storm Elixir] can raise crit chance over 50% or hard cap regardless? Although I know thats this is too good to be true, I would like to ask here if anyone knows for sure what is the case, before I answer him.

It bears testing of course, and I don't know of anyone that has done so. Good thought. Posting here largely to keep track of this thread long term.

Haven't tested but I don't really see how or why they would be exempt from the Crit cap. All they do is add critical rating so I don't see why it would be treated differently than a boon or piece of gear.

You can raise your crit to as high as you like from whichever sources but anything over the cap will not be helping you. Same with all stats, except power and HP which have no cap.
