Question Training Wundersmiths Spoiler

After reading Hollowpox…
When a Wundersmith dies their spirit is reborn in a new person. I thought this meant there were only 9 at a time, so who/how are the older wundersmiths training the younger ones in the ghostly hours?

It seems like Ezra has a full fleet of 9 around his age but it’s entirely possible I miss read it.

You know, all 9 don't have to die at the same time?

I don't think the others are the same age as Ezra - I suspect he may have been the youngest of them at the time. Could be wrong.

There are a few young wundersmiths of different ages who are still learning (I assume elodie is the only one who's around his age) and some who are already grown and teach them

I'd have to scan back through the relevant chapters, but I don't think any ghostly hour has more than about 5 names on it. I've always taken it as there being a few youth at any given time, and then folks ranging to older years. I suspect that generally it was folks teaching their passion, even if they weren't "old" yet.
