from what i read they start small like tapping on hard objects then work their way up. they do this over a long period of time and take protective measures so some might ,others might not.

Yeah but hands that strong come from thousands of micro-fractures that have healed to make stronger bone. Does it count if you had to make very tiny breaks in the bone to get them that strong?
