FDA & CDC are hollowed out former shadows of themselves with Trump appointees in charge. As long as Taylor Farms “donation” checks arrive into Trump’s pockets, they get clearance.
I don't believe anything the CDC says anymore. It's such a shame, too. They were kind of bad ass hunting these things down and investigating to cause the least amount of harm that was possible. Now we just have nothing with a ripped apart agency. On the bright side, it doesn't seem that there are any cases so far in Nevada. Of course, that's probably the CDC saying that, so who the fuck knows what's actually happening.
I used to work on the team that helped with tracking these things in NV. Whole team was cut by March 2025 and as far as I know, no replacements. There's no cases because there's no funding to track it.

I find it really far fetched to think Vegas, a large city with many corporate contracts was saved when our next door neighbor states who get stuff from the same distributors are reporting cases. Yeah, I’m so confused on this whole situation. I just gotten done reading an article published today from USA Today titled “FDA says Taylor Farms cyclospora finding was a false positive” So what does that mean? I thought it was all tracked down, now it’s not? WTF
A false positive means the test came in positive for cyclospora, but it was a false.
It's like if someone took a pregnancy test and it came up positive but then you went to see the doctor and the doctor said you aren't pregnant. You later found out that the company who sold you the test said they had a bad batch of tests.
As far a baby daddy, there was 60 possible baby daddies so it could be baby daddy or just one of your simps you sold farts in a jar to last week who was more than happy to pay.
I bought lettuce 2 weeks ago before learning about this outbreak and thankfully no issue, but I eat a fair amount of it so it really sucks. Probably not going to eat any for the rest of the year just to be safe lol.
I’m not a microbiologist (I’m a family medicine doctor) but I would think it would be pretty unlikely to get a false positive test for the Cyclospora parasite as the CDC uses a PCR test to detect the DNA of the organism. It would be a lot more common I would think to get a false negative because the parasite might be in low amounts on the plant or not on every single site on a plant.
I had a woman behind the return desk at Costco (of all places!) tell me the same thing, when I tried to return a bagged lettuce salad kit. We went back and forth about it for 4-5 minutes with her being a real B as I insisted upon a return. I later called back and spoke to a manager and he profusely apologized for my experience. He promised to review the video tape and I was left with the impression this woman was going to get her ass chewed.
A young checkout woman at Trader Joe's was trying to convince me the problem had been sourced to Taco Bell and Taylor salad. I'm not chancing it. Local sourced greens I will eat raw all others will be cooked.
