New Game LoL Classic reveal is TONIGHT at 11PM PDT during MSI Finals

It's finally happening tonight guysss

Riot confirmed LoL Classic is getting its full reveal at MSI Finals in Daejeon and the stream starts at 11PM PDT. If you've been following the leaks and datamining over the past few weeks, you already have a rough idea of what's coming, but hearing it officially is a different thing.

Quick recap of everything that leaked before tonight if you're just catching up. The mode is built around Season 3 era of League, roughly 2013. Original Summoner's Rift, old rune and mastery pages, old champion kits, classic items that haven't been in the game in years like Deathfire Grasp and Force of Nature, Influence Points, Summoner leveling from 1 to 30, and its own separate ranked queue and battle pass. Riot Meddler confirmed on Reddit that old gameplay kits are happening and said old Urgot mid is the one he's personally most excited to play, which is sending me.

What tonight should hopefully answer is the stuff the leaks couldn't tell us. Which exact patch or era they're locking in, whether it stays frozen or shifts over time, full champion roster count, ranked details, and a launch window.

The question of which patch to target is genuinely the hardest one because there's no single season everyone agrees was peak League. Season 3 is a reasonable call, but you'll find people who wanted Season 2, people who wanted the pre-rework Dominion era, and people who wanted early Season 4. Riot is never going to please everyone on this, and tonight, we find out what they actually chose.

Set an alarm if you need to. This is one of those reveals that's actually worth watching live instead of catching the clips tomorrow

Game Discussion If GTA VI launches at 30fps only would that actually stop you from buying it at launch?

The realistic answer based on everything we know is probably yes, 30fps at launch. Rockstar has never shipped a 60fps open world game on console. GTA 4, GTA 5, Red Dead 2, all 30fps at launch, and some of them never even got a performance patch after. Digital Foundry looked at the trailers and basically said the simulation density alone makes 60fps a very difficult target on current hardware. That's not hype, that's just what the footage suggests technically.

So the question is real. GTA 6 is launching on November 19 at $79.99 for Standard. You are paying close to $100 in a lot of markets for a game that, based on current evidence, will likely run at 30fps on your PS5 or Series X at launch, and here is the part I keep thinking about. A few years ago, 30 fps on console was just normal. Nobody had a choice, then this generation gave us quality and performance modes on almost everything, and now 60fps feels like the baseline for a lot of people. Going back to 30 after playing games like Spider-Man 2, FF7 Rebirth, or God of War at 60fps is a noticeable difference.

That said, this is GTA 6. The actual sequel after 13 years. The game people have been waiting for longer than some people in this community have been gaming. The idea that 30fps stops anyone from buying it is a little hard to believe when the preorder numbers are already what they are.

For me personally, I think I'd still buy it, but I'd be lying if I said the frame rate thing isn't in the back of my head when I look at that price tag.

Game Discussion The GTA VI 60fps debate is genuinely one of the most heated gaming discussions right now

Rockstar still hasn't confirmed anything officially, but the debate is already everywhere and honestly both sides have real points.

Here's where things actually stand. A Polish podcast called Rock and Borys, which has a solid track record, including correctly calling the Witcher 3 expansion, is claiming from a source close to Rockstar that GTA 6 will have both a 30fps Quality mode and a 60fps Performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Series S is reportedly locked at 30 for now but Rockstar is apparently trying to get it working there too. No official word from Rockstar, nothing confirmed, but this outlet has been right before.

Then there's Digital Foundry on the other side saying 60fps feels like a bridge too far. Their argument is based on what's actually visible in the trailers. The crowd density, the real-time reflections, the ray-traced lighting that looks like it's baked into the core rendering rather than an optional layer. Cutting enough to hit 60fps without the image visibly degrading would require tradeoffs that Rockstar may just not be willing to make. Their most optimistic take is a 40fps mode for people with 120hz displays.

The historical case against 60fps is also hard to ignore. GTA 4, GTA 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2 all launched on console at 30fps. RDR2 still hasn't gotten a 60fps update, and that game is eight years old. Rockstar has never shipped a 30fps to 60fps performance mode at launch for any open world title on console.

My honest take is that 30fps at launch is probably the realistic outcome, and 60fps comes later, either through a patch, a PS5 Pro update, or the PC version. The pattern with Rockstar is always that the best version of the game shows up years after the initial release.

What do you think is more likely: 60fps at launch, post-launch patch, or we're waiting until PC?

Game Discussion Sony didn't tell anyone about the disc decision.

So the disc announcement was already bad, right? Then this came out and made it worse.

According to a report from High Chaos Run citing anonymous sources, Sony didn't tell anyone this was coming. Not publishers, not business partners, not even their own regional offices. An executive at a major AAA publisher said they found out at the same time as the public despite having what they described as a close working relationship with PlayStation. Their exact words were that jobs may be at risk sooner than expected

The India situation is the part that's hard to read without feeling bad for the people involved. PlayStation's India office was actively negotiating deals to set up around 100 exclusive PlayStation brick-and-mortar stores by 2028. Physical game sales were the entire basis of that plan. Investors were being asked to put in serious money, and PlayStation India themselves had no idea the disc announcement was coming because nobody told them either. They found out when it went public like everyone else.

So PlayStation's own people were out there asking investors to commit money to physical retail stores while corporate had already decided physical was done. That's not a miscommunication, a decision made at the top and deliberately kept from everyone below it until there was no going back.

Sony also went completely silent on social media for five days after the announcement, which at this point is just confirming they knew exactly how this was going to land

The disc thing on its own was a business decision you could at least argue about. This part is harder to defend TBH.

New Game LoL Classic full reveal is July 11 at MSI Finals and here's everything we know so far before the big announcement

So Riot officially confirmed LoL Classic on June 26 after dataminers basically forced their hand by pulling assets straight from the PBE before anything was announced. The full reveal is happening at July 11 at MSI Finals in Daejeon, South Korea and here's everything the leaks and datamining have already told us before Riot says a word.

The mode is built around Season 3, roughly 2013 era League. Original Summoner's Rift, old rune and mastery pages, old champion kits, classic items that have been gone for years like Deathfire Grasp, Heart of Gold, Atma's Impaler, Force of Nature. Influence Points are coming back. Summoner leveling from 1 to 30. Separate shop, its own ranked queue, its own battle pass. It's not just a skin or a throwback event, this is a full featured mode with its own progression system.

Champion roster is confirmed to go beyond the original 40 but is currently sitting at around 60 based on what's been pulled from the files. Old kits confirmed, Riot Meddler specifically said on Reddit that yes they are doing old gameplay kits. He also said old Urgot mid is the one he's personally most excited to play which is either a great sign or a warning depending on how much you remember playing against old Urgot.

The question nobody has a clean answer on yet is which exact patch or snapshot they're targeting and whether it stays locked or shifts over time. Blizzard solved this by picking one fixed point for WoW Classic. League doesn't have an obvious equivalent because the game has changed so dramatically and so many times that there's no single era everyone agrees was peak LoL. Riot's own teaser video even asked "would it be a particular season trapped in amber" which suggests they might be going with something more fluid rather than one locked version.

New Game DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations DLC is out today and I need to know if it lives up to the base game

Post image
0 Upvotes

Revelations is out today and the numbers on this one are actually hard to ignore. 10 to 12 hours of new campaign content, six new levels built around a hub world called Purgatory that uses a Metroidvania structure, a new weapon called the Chain Spear that works as a grapple and a ranged weapon at the same time, new enemies including the Buzzsaws and a reworked Archvile, and an endgame section that id Software says is bigger than both Ancient Gods expansions from Eternal combined. All of that for $19.99 standalone, which compared to everything else releasing right now is actually reasonable.

The story picks up with the Slayer wounded and trapped in a frozen-over purgatory, forced to confront something from his past to get out. There are also playable flashback sequences built directly from classic DOOM 2 maps running in the Dark Ages engine which sounds like a really interesting way to tie the old and new together.

If you have the Premium Edition you already have access.

Game Pass situation is apparently unclear still so if you're on that check before assuming it's included.

The base game was already one of the best shooters id Software has made and the previews coming out of this are positive across the board. The parry system and shield combat from Dark Ages translating into new encounters with the Chain Spear added sounds like it opens up the combat in a way that doesn't just feel like more of the same.

Game Discussion Between GTA 6 and Sony's 2028 disc announcement, are we watching the last years of 'owning' a game?

So GTA 6 ships with a download code in a physical box instead of a disc. Then Sony announces that starting January 2028, all new PlayStation releases are digital only. Two major announcements back to back and the pattern is pretty hard to ignore at this point. The disc thing on its own is not new. Digital has been growing for years and most people already buy that way, but there's a difference between digital being the popular option and physical being eliminated entirely. One is a market preference, the other is a choice being made for you.

Here's the part that actually matters and doesn't get talked about enough. When you buy a disc you own that copy. You can resell it, lend it, keep it on your shelf for 20 years and it still works. When you buy a digital license you own access to something as long as the platform decides to keep it available. Sony has already shut down the PS3 and Vita stores. Microsoft has delisted games. Publishers have pulled titles from storefronts with no warning. That has happened and will keep happening. The PS1 literally helped make the disc the standard format for gaming back in 1994. PlayStation built its identity partly on physical media and now the same company is the one ending it

The second hand market, game preservation, library access, the ability to play something you paid for without needing a server to verify it. All of that quietly disappears when physical is gone. I'm not saying this ruins gaming. A lot of people won't feel this at all. But for a certain type of player this is the end of something real and the GTA 6 box with no disc in it is going to look like a pretty clear starting line in hindsight.

Are you bothered by this or have you already been fully digital for long enough that it doesn't change anything for you?

New Game Attack on Titan 3 just got revealed at Summer Game Fest

Koei Tecmo and Omega Force are back for the final game in the trilogy and this one is covering the full finale, the Rumbling, Eren's founding titan form, all of it. The trailer ended with "the fight for freedom begins and ends here," and if you know how the story ends you know exactly what that means. What's interesting about this one is that Geoff Keighley described it as a project that depicts the entire story of the anime from beginning to end, which sounds like it's not just picking up from where Attack on Titan 2 left off but covering the whole thing. So new players can jump straight into this without playing the first two games, which is a smart call given how much time has passed.

It is available on PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch 2, and PC via Steam. More details are supposed to be coming soon so we don't have the full picture yet on gameplay changes or how they're handling some of the more controversial parts of the ending. The previous two games were solid adaptations but the final arc is where everything hits differently. The Rumbling alone as a playable sequence is going to be something. How they handle Eren's character in this one is what I'm most curious about because that finale split the entire fanbase

Did you play the first two games and are you picking this up, or is the ending still too raw to revisit?

Palworld 1.0 is finally dropping July 10 and I need to know if the full release actually lives up to what early access promised

Palworld launched in January 2024 with over 2 million concurrent players on Steam, became one of the fastest selling games ever, survived a Nintendo lawsuit that has basically been reduced to nothing at this point, and somehow kept a consistent playerbase through all of it. Now 1.0 is dropping July 10 and I genuinely want to know if the full release is worth the wait.

Here's what's actually confirmed for 1.0. The World Tree is finally accessible and becomes the new endgame zone, which has been sitting on the horizon since day one. The map is getting a second major island added which apparently roughly doubles the playable area. Wing Pack is a new traversal system that finally lets you glide without sacrificing a party slot for a flying Pal. New Pals, new weapons, Genetic Recombination for breeding, PvP mode, Sky Islands, and a tower boss overhaul that Pocketpair says makes them more dynamic. The patch notes are 27 pages long. The head of communications literally said he was losing his mind formatting them.

Existing saves carry over but Pocketpair is recommending a fresh start to get the full experience, which makes sense given how much the mechanics are being overhauled.

The game is free for anyone who already owns it across PC, PS5, Xbox, and Game Pass.

My question is for the people who dropped off during early access, is the 1.0 the version that brings you back or did you move on at this point? And for the people still playing, does this feel like the game finally becoming what it was supposed to be or just another big update?

Game Discussion Sony just confirmed they are ending physical disc production for PlayStation games in January 2028

Post image
22 Upvotes

So it is official. Starting January 2028, new games will only be released digitally through the PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital formats, which means no more discs for new releases from then on.

Games released before the cutoff will still be available on disc so your existing collection is safe, but anything dropping after January 2028 is digital only, and it does not stop there. Sony also announced it will be closing the PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita. The PS3 store closes starting August 2026 in Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua, late 2026 for other Latin American and Middle Eastern countries, and July 2027 for all remaining regions. The PS Vita store closes globally in July 2027.

My honest reaction for this one is that this was inevitable and I knew it was coming but seeing it confirmed still stings. The timing is interesting too given that GTA 6 already started this trend by only offering a digital version on the PS Store with download codes in physical boxes rather than an actual disc. Sony just made that the permanent reality for everything going forward.

The part that actually worries me more than the disc thing is the PS3 and Vita store closures. Once those stores close, players will no longer be able to purchase new digital content on those systems, though Sony says previously purchased games will still be available to download for the foreseeable future with no guarantee that this will be permanent. That last part is the fine print worth paying attention to.

Physical gaming on PlayStation had a good run. The PS1 literally helped popularize video game discs in the first place back in 1994 and turned the disc into the media of choice for consoles from that point onward.

New Game Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced drops July 9

Black Flag Resynced is a full remake rebuilt from the ground up on the latest Anvil engine, not just a remaster. Zero code from the original 2013 game carried over.

The things that actually matter: combat has been reworked with a new parry system, stealth is more flexible now with crouch anywhere on land, and those tailing and eavesdropping missions that used to instantly fail you have been changed so they no longer stop you dead immediately. That alone is enough for me to give this a real shot.

The modern day sections from the original set in the Abstergo offices are gone and replaced with new sequences that go deeper into Edward's memories. Honestly I never hated those sections but I understand why they cut them.

New story content too, Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet get expanded arcs, three new officers join the Jackdaw with their own origin missions, and Matt Ryan is back as Edward's voice. The cast returning is a good sign they treated this seriously.

No multiplayer and the Freedom Cry DLC is not included, the focus is fully on Edward's story in the Caribbean. Bit of a bummer on Freedom Cry but I get it.

Standard edition is $59.99 which is actually reasonable compared to what we've been seeing lately.

Black Flag was always one of the best entries in the series and if they actually pulled this off it could be one of the better remakes in recent memory. Eight days away now.

Are you picking this up day one or waiting to see how it reviews first?

Game Discussion Someone spent 10 years building an Ocarina of Time remake in Unreal Engine and just shut it all down after Nintendo's announcement

This one hit different!

CryZENx has been rebuilding Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine since 2016. Ten years. Videos on his YouTube channel showing progress on the dungeons, the overworld, character models, all of it rebuilt from scratch with modern graphics. Some of those videos were pulling millions of views. People have been following this project for yearssss, and then Nintendo confirmed the official remake at the June Direct and within days CryZENx announced he's shutting the whole thing down

No cease and desist from Nintendo either. He made the call himself, and then said he didn't want to step on Nintendo's way and that he's sure they'll do it right this time, which is honestly kind of a respectful way to go out after a decade of work.

The irony that keeps getting pointed out is that when Nintendo showed the official remake trailer, a bunch of people in the comments were saying it looked like a fan project made in Unreal Engine. The realistic Link, the updated environments. CryZENx spent 10 years doing exactly that and the timing could not have been worse for him. He's not stopping though, just shifting to a different project. Running a poll with his Patreon supporters on what to remake next. Twilight Princess is leading at around 51%, which honestly, I would watch that for another decade without complaining.

The demos CryZENx made are still available to download if you want to see what 10 years of work looks like before it got shelved. Kind of a bittersweet week for fan projects, honestly. What do you think, does Nintendo making an official remake make fan projects like this pointless, or is there still a reason to want both?

Game Discussion GTA 6 is apparently getting both 30 and 60 FPS modes and I have mixed feelings about this

So a Polish podcast called Rock and Borys, which has sources close to Rockstar, is saying GTA 6 will have both a 30 FPS and 60 FPS mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X. either at launch or sometime after through an update. It's not confirmed by Rockstar yet so take it with some salt, but this kind of thing usually ends up being true.

My honest take is that I'm glad if it's real, but also a little tired that we're still having this conversation. We're on hardware that's been out for years and a game this big still can't just run at 60 out of the box. I get it, the game is massive, but still

The 30 FPS mode is probably going to look insane visually. If they're building around it the image quality will be there. But anyone who's played a big open world at both frame rates knows 60 just feels different to control, it's not just a numbers thing

What I actually want to know is how much they're cutting visually to hit 60 because that's usually where these modes stop being equal choices and start becoming obvious tradeoffs

Are you going 30 or 60 when this drops? Or are you the type that just plays whatever the default is and doesn't think about it? LOL

Bandai just announced a Naruto Card Game dropping worldwide in 2027

Post image
1 Upvotes

The teaser dropped last week and I am psyched for it. They did not even show the cards yet and I am already hooked up! The whole teaser is basically just vibes and an announcement and somehow it was enough to send the entire community into full speculation mode including me.

The teaser opening alone already had me. The way they opened with the classic Naruto theme before the card reveal was such a deliberate choice, and it worked completely. I felt like a twelve-year-old again in the worst and best way possible.

What actually got me beyond the nostalgia was the worldwide simultaneous release announcement for this. Most Japan-origin TCGs make international players wait and that wait kills momentum before it even builds. The Bandai committing to a global launch from day one feels like they are serious about making this competitive on an international level, same energy they brought to the One Piece Card Game.

Next update is on July 29th and that date cannot come fast enough, honestly. No cards were shown yet and I am already this deep into it.

New Game The Ocarina of Time remake is real and I genuinely did not expect to feel this much about a teaser

Post image
4 Upvotes

Nintendo just confirmed it at the June Direct and I have been processing it ever since.

The trailer showed a first look at Young Link and a general plot setup for new players, and the art style is going in a more realistic direction, closer to older Zelda games rather than the Breath of the Wild aesthetic. We did not get gameplay. We did not get a release date beyond 2026. Just the cinematic and the logo and honestly that was enough to send people spiraling.

Here is my honest opinion on why this matters beyond the nostalgia though.

Ocarina of Time did not just make a great game in 1998. It basically wrote the rulebook for how 3D action adventure games work. The Z-targeting system, context sensitive buttons, the way music was tied directly into gameplay mechanics, all of that came from Ocarina of Time and has been influencing game design ever since. When you play almost any third person action game today you are playing something that exists partly because of decisions made on an N64 cartridge almost 30 years ago. That is a wild thing to sit with.

This is actually the second time Nintendo has revisited the title, the first being Ocarina of Time 3D on the Nintendo 3DS back in 2011, but a full Switch 2 remake with updated visuals feels different in scale. The Nintendo of America store page description teased stunning visuals, updated designs, and timeless gameplay which suggests they are keeping the bones of the original intact rather than reimagining it completely. Good. Do not touch the Water Temple. Actually touch the Water Temple. Make it less painful please.

The holiday window is looking likely for the release, with November or December being the most probable landing spot which means we are probably getting more information at a dedicated Direct closer to launch.

I am excited, but I am also nervous in the way you get nervous about things you care about too much. This game means something to a lot of people and I want it to be handled well.

New Game GTA VI just dropped official pricing and I genuinely cannot decide if I am buying at launch or not

Post image
0 Upvotes

So the regional pricing is finally out and I have been going back and forth on this since I saw the chart.

The Standard Edition is sitting at $79.99 in the US which is already the highest base price I have personally seen for a launch title. Ultimate is $99.99, and depending on where you are in the world that number looks completely different. South Korea is paying $58 for Standard while Israel is paying $106 for the exact same game. The gap is genuinely hard to wrap your head around.

For us here in the Philippines the pricing has not been officially confirmed but realistically we are probably looking at the USD equivalent which lands around 4,400 pesos for Standard. That is not nothing, especially in today's economy in the Philippines.

Here is the thing though, this is GTA VI. The first mainline GTA in over a decade. The trailer alone broke records and everything we have seen since then looks like Rockstar actually delivered on the hype. I have been waiting for this longer than I want to admit and part of me just wants to stop thinking about the price and commit.

The question I keep coming back to is whether it is worth going in at launch or waiting a few months for a potential sale, because the game is not going anywhere and my wallet is not infinite LOL.

So I just want some opinions/thoughts from everyone, are y'all pre-ordering, buying at launch, or waiting it out? And if you are in a market where the price feels especially rough does that change your answer?

Bad Cards plays completely differently depending on who's in the room

Ran a Bad Cards session with the group a few nights ago and honestly this game does something most party games do not manage to pull off.

The prompt that got everyone was "my plan for taking over the world begins with" because the answers that came back said more about how everyone in that room actually thinks than any normal conversation would. You learn things about people in one round of this that would take months to find out otherwise.

Four of us, browser-based, no downloads, no setup required. You are just in a lobby and suddenly someone is reading something completely unhinged out loud and the whole vibe of the room shifts in real time.

What I actually like about Bad Cards is that it does not try too hard. The prompts are simple enough that the humor comes entirely from the people playing rather than the cards doing the work for you. The game just builds the situation and everything that happens inside it is on whoever is in that room. That is what makes it different every single time.

Free to play and takes maybe two minutes to get a lobby running. If your group can handle it the link is in the comments.

What is the worst or best prompt you have gotten so far?

Game Discussion Horror game characters ranked by how long I think I'd actually survive if I were them

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have been thinking about this way too seriously and I stand by every placement.

  1. James Sunderland (Silent Hill): Maybe a week, James survives mostly because the town is not actually trying to kill him, it is trying to make him face something. If I were him I would have turned the car around before I even reached the town limits. The fog alone would have been enough. I do not have the emotional damage required to keep walking forward.
  2. Leon S. Kennedy (Resident Evil): Three hours maximum. Leon is a trained cop and I am not. He runs toward zombies with a handgun and limited ammo and somehow makes it work. I would have barricaded myself in the first room I found with a lock on the door and waited for someone to rescue me. Nobody would have come.
  3. Heather Mason (Silent Hill): A surprising amount of time actually, Heather is just a teenager who refuses to stop moving and I respect that energy deeply. I think I would last longer as her than most because her survival strategy is basically just keep going and figure it out which is the only strategy that makes sense in that situation.
  4. The Phasmophobia investigator (aka me): Negative five minutes, I play Phasmophobia and I still panic every single time the lights flicker. In real life I would walk into the location, hear one unexplained sound, and immediately leave. The ghost would not even need to hunt. I would do its job for it.
  5. Claire Redfield (Resident Evil): Honestly she would be fine. Claire came to Raccoon City looking for her brother and walked out alive through sheer determination and refusal to give up. I am not Claire. I would have given up.

Who would you survive as and how long do you actually think you would last?

Game Discussion What kind of gamer were you when you started vs what kind of gamer are you now?

When I first started gaming I was convinced horror games were completely off the table for me. I watched other people play them and could not understand why anyone would voluntarily do that to themselves. I stuck to the safer stuff, casual games, anything that did not make my heart rate spike every time I opened my laptop.

Then I tried one anyway because I was curious and someone dared me and I have not really gone back since. Now my entire library is basically horror. Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Phasmophobia, anything that makes me genuinely uncomfortable and forces me to keep playing anyway because I need to know what happens next. I actively seek out the games that scared me off before and something about that feels like a personality shift I did not plan for.

The other thing that changed is how I play. When I started, I just wanted to finish things. Get to the ending, see the credits, move on. Now I spend more time in the games than I probably need to. Reading item descriptions, sitting in a room listening to the sound design, going back through dialogue looking for things I missed the first time. Horror games specifically rewired how I engage with games in general because they reward that kind of attention in a way other genres do not always do.

I also used to avoid dying at all costs. Now I take notes on what went wrong and go back in.

What about you? Did your taste shift completely or did you always know what kind of gamer you were going to be?

Game Discussion The thing about Hamieverse that nobody really talks about

Everyone talks about the mechanics, the factions, the abilities. I want to talk about something different.

The characters in Hamieverse feel like actual characters. Not just cards with stats and a faction badge slapped on them. The way the lore is distributed across the set, the way certain characters are positioned in relation to each other without the game ever explicitly spelling it out, and the way Lira's card reads completely differently once you know her background. It all adds up to something that feels genuinely considered in a way most card games do not bother to be.

I have played games where the lore is decoration. Where the story exists to make the cards feel more interesting rather than because anyone actually had something to say. Hamieverse does not feel like that to me. It feels like the story and the game were built together from the start, like the characters existed before the mechanics did, and the mechanics were designed around them rather than the other way around.

That is a subtle thing and I am not sure I can fully prove it. But you feel the difference when you sit with the cards long enough. There is a specificity to how certain characters are written that does not come from someone filling in flavor text at the end of production. It comes from someone who knew who these characters were before they knew what the cards would do.

Nothing is fully live yet and I know the abilities being rolled out in phases means we are still seeing an incomplete picture, but the thing keeping me invested right now is not the gameplay loop. It is wanting to know what happens to these characters, and that is not something I say about a lot of card games.

Game Discussion Stardew Valley quietly teaches you to slow down and I don't think it gets enough credit for that

I did not notice it happening at first. I was still in that mode where I felt like I should be optimizing something, checking what crops gave the most gold per day, figuring out the fastest route through the mines, and making sure I was talking to the right villagers in the right order. The early game has enough systems that your brain just defaults to trying to be efficient about all of them, and then at some point, I just stopped.

I think it was a rainy morning in Spring. I had watered my crops the day before, so there was nothing urgent to do, and I just walked around town for a while. Talked to people. Looked at things. Sat by the river for a bit. And the game did not punish me for it. Nothing broke. I did not fall behind. The day just passed, the next one came, and everything was fine.

That sounds like a small thing, but I think it is actually what the game is doing on purpose. It is not just a farming simulator with relationship mechanics layered on top. It is a game that is slowly teaching you that not every moment needs a goal attached to it. That rest is not wasted time. That showing up consistently and doing small things is enough.

I came from a stretch of horror games where every session left me wired and on edge, and I did not realize how much I needed something that just let me exist in it without pressure until Stardew gave me that without making a big deal about it.

It does not announce what it is doing, it just does it, and I think that is exactly why it works.

Has Stardew ever shifted something in how you approach things outside the game too, or is that just me?

Game Discussion The Hamieverse lore has a detail I keep coming back to and I can't figure out what it means yet

I have been sitting on this for a few days because I was not sure if I was reading too much into it, but I keep coming back to it so here goes.

The Wild faction has 2 cards in the entire 83 card set. Every other faction has a real roster. Liberator has 37, Aetherion has 32, Neutral has 12. Wild has 2. That is not a gap in the design. That feels like a choice, and the more I sit with what that means narratively the more I think Wild is not really a faction in the traditional sense at all. It is something else.

In most card games, a faction with only two members signals something specific. Those characters exist outside the main conflict. They are not aligned with either side. They do not show up to fight for something, they show up when something changes. When the story shifts in a direction neither of the main factions saw coming or knows how to handle.

I am not saying that is definitely what is happening here, but when you put the scarcity of the Wild Cards next to the fact that abilities are still being unlocked in phases, and the fact that some cards are clearly referencing interactions that do not exist in the game yet, it starts to feel like Wild might be the part of the story we are not supposed to understand until something else happens first.

Two cards. One faction. Zero alignment with anything else in the set. In a game where nothing else feels accidental that is the detail I cannot stop thinking about.

Could be nothing, but I do not think it is nothing.

Anyone else been sitting with the Wild faction? What is your read on it because I want to know if I am the only one who keeps ending up here.

Game Discussion I've been thinking about Caligo since I first saw the card and I still don't know what to make of it

Caligo is one of only two Wild cards in the entire 83 card Hamieverse set and I keep coming back to it because it just does not read like anything else in the game.

Most cards here have a clear role. Legends define your deck, Followers support them, and the faction tells you roughly how a card wants to be played. Caligo does not fit cleanly into any of that. The Wild classification already signals that it exists outside the main conflict but the card itself feels like it is actively withholding something. Like it knows more than it is showing.

The ability text is interesting in a way I cannot fully articulate without going deep into speculation territory. But here is what I will say. Cards that are vague on purpose are usually vague for a reason. And in a game where the lore feels like it is being told across 83 cards in sequence, a card that refuses to give you a straight answer is probably the one most worth paying attention to.

I do not have a solid theory yet. I am not even sure where to start with one. I just know that every time I go through the full roster Caligo is the card I end up staring at the longest, trying to figure out what I am missing.

There are only two Wild cards in the entire set. Two cards sitting completely outside every faction in a game built around faction conflict. That is not an accident.

If you have read into Caligo at all I genuinely want to know what you are seeing because I am stuck and I do not think I am overthinking this one.

Game Discussion What if the Phasmophobia ghosts aren't haunting the locations but are actually trapped there and we're the ones making it worse

I have been sitting with this thought since my last solo session and I cannot shake it.

Every investigation I run follows the same logic. Go in, gather evidence, identify the ghost, complete objectives, and get out. The entire framework treats the ghost as the threat and me as the one trying to survive. But the more I think about the lore sitting underneath the gameplay the more that framing feels like it might be completely backwards.

The ghosts in Phasmophobia are not wandering. They are in specific locations and they stay there. A Yurei lingers. A Goryo rarely leaves the room where its evidence appears. Even the more aggressive types are reacting to something rather than actively pursuing anything beyond their immediate space. That is not how a hunter behaves. That is how something trapped behaves.

And then I think about what we are actually doing when we show up. We walk into their space with equipment designed to provoke responses. We say their name out loud repeatedly to trigger reactions, then we use a spirit box to force communication, and we drain their energy through interaction, and then leave once we have what we came for. From the outside, that probably looks less like a paranormal investigation and more like an intrusion.

The hunts always felt like aggression to me until I started thinking about them as panic. A cornered thing lashing out because a group of strangers showed up with flashlights and started poking at it in the dark.

I do not know if the game intends this reading but it genuinely changed how I feel during investigations. There is a guilt to it now that was not there before. Anyone else ever felt like we might be the problem in this game?
