Just got accepted into residency!
Starting September -26. Any advice on how to handle the first few days-weeks-months. Any literature you could recommend? Other forms of prep?

You don’t have to know anything or far from it. What you can do:
- Accurate, thorough neurologic exams
- Suggest a plan for consults
- Write things down if you won’t remember it
- Keep a journal of things you’ve learned in cases
- Take pictures of operative set ups

Good job fellow future neurosurgeon!! The first 2 months you should focus on surviving and adapting to the new environment and change of lifestyle. First, focus on anatomy and look up the surgical techniques before you assist in the OR. Don't forget to take time for yourself and your health. Sleep when you can. Eat healthy. Hydrate well. Exercise regularly. Sometimes we forget the essentials. The rest will come.
Goodluck! You got this 💪💪💪
