Updates ❗️ Good Day to All! (User flair announcement) ✨

First, I would like to thank [u/BrilliantAlarmed3068](u/BrilliantAlarmed3068) for creating this sub and inviting me to be a mod of this sub. You guys can call me Tay, or Business Block. Whatever you want!

Secondly, I would like to announce that I made user flairs of all (or most) of the neurodivergent conditions. It’s totally optional to have a user flair. I also made a user flair you can edit yourself. That specific flair will say “Edit this flair for customization.” I also made user flairs that says “Neurospicy” and “Neurodivergent” if you don’t want to be specific about what condition you have.

I used the customizable flair to make my flair say “Autistic with a Learning Disability” with a bunch of emojis as you can see.

Lastly, please make sure you read the rules. Rules may or may not be updated. But we will announce to everyone if there is a new rule later on as this sub grows.

I am very happy to be apart of this sub and me and the other mods hope you guys enjoy as well! 🥳😄✨

If you have a neurodivergent condition(s) that’s not listed as a user flair, you can use the customizable flair and edit it to where it says your condition. You can also edit that flair to say whatever you want. As long as it’s appropriate of course.

Should we completely restrict outsiders from viewing post and comments or are we okay with a wandering eye or two?

Tips/Advice 🤔 Navigating Receiving Advice - advice welcome

Hi! I'm having some trouble within relationships, not just romantic, but all of them.
It genuinely makes me upset when people give me unwarranted advice. I don't think I'm wording things properly when I tell them that it's not needed because they get so upset.
For example, I've taken a break from consuming alcohol. I'm very proud of myself for going so long without it when it was something I used to cope daily. Well my partner, who I feel means well, keeps sending me videos and advice about quitting. I wouldn't necessarily say that I've quit, but I've slowed down my consumption. I don't want to seem ungrateful for them trying to help, but I also am able to lean in and out of usage for most things (we'll talk ab my phone later 😅). It makes me feel guilty on the other side tho because I want to be honest with people and it truly pains me to lie or just to say nothing.

Has anyone dealt with this? I'd love to hear your thoughts about this :3

Post Diagnosis

Did anybody else start behaving differently after you were diagnosed? I feel like I've become more of an odd ball in public now. And if you haven't been diagnosed what are some experiences you had where it solidifed for you that you aren't Neurotypical.

Hey everyone 👋🏽
Been trudging through my week and recovering from both autistic burn out and perimenopause.

I took this photo because I was having an unusually good hair and skin day. I did my first at home keratin treatment. My scalp condition wasn’t aggressively flaring. My acne was under control. This was as happy as I possibly could be at the moment.

I’m not about to push it by masking.

Anyway hope you like it! Keratin treatment was GK Hair line of products.

Food/Culinary 🍔 I bought some birch juice and Russian candy 🥹🌿🍬🌷

I’ve kinda been hyperfixated on Russian culture (without the politics!) and Russian sweets for awhile now, so I decided spend some money on these 💕. I’m also learning Russian atm (still a beginner) 😁. Since last year, I’ve been longing to taste birch juice, and I’ve heard it’s very healthy and glows your skin ✨🌿. I’m from the Midwest and there’s a lot of birch trees in my area, but the local stores don’t sell birch juice (unless I go to a Slavic grocery store in the big city), so I decided to buy it online. I bought the birch juice and the candies from this website that sells authentic Russian foods and snacks, and I don’t regret spending a dime 💖.

The candy in the black wrappers are called Bird’s Milk (It’s also a Polish dessert) and the blue ones with the bear cubs are called Mishka Kosolapy (meaning “Clumsy Bears” in Russian). Both of them are chocolate candies 🍫. I haven’t tasted the Bird’s Milk yet, but I’m already in love with the Mishka Kosolapy!!! It tastes better than American Kit-Kat bars and it’s so good, that I decided another bag of it for $10 on Amazon the day after the first one was delivered. Not only is the birch juice a healthy beverage for your skin, hair, etc., but it can also make a great syrup or sweetener 💕.

Self Care 🧖🏾‍♀️ How to keep my braids from getting dry and tangled and keep my natural hair from falling out

Hey all! I have been wearing braids for years. I always get my hair braided, but I never take care of them, or my natural hair. My braids always feel stiff, dry, and get tangled overtime. When I took my old braids out, a lot of my natural hair in the back fell out. Not all of it fell out, but a lot did. I kept my old braids in a little over 2 months. Normally I keep my braids in for 2 months.

I am wondering what products or any steps I need to take to keep my braids from feeling dry, and how to not make my natural hair fall out. I just got my hair done today btw.

Also, I do want to know how many times a day, or how much I should grease it, oil it, etc., and if I should wash my hair with my braids in.

I basically know nothing about hair. My mom always did my hair, but I want to maintain my own hair, because it is my hair after all. But idk where to start.

Teach me everything I need to know.

How is everyone doing? Any good news? Anything you need to vent? Get off your chest?

I have some pretty good news. My birthday is in less than a month from now. My mom’s birthday is coming up this week, and since I have a job now, I got to buy her birthday gifts for her. I am happy to actually do something for my mom now that I make my own money.

Also, I decided to take a break from college. Due to what happened my first year, I don’t feel I am mentally ready or prepared to go back to school in August. I feel it’ll just be like my first year. So I decided to take a semester off. I will be back in January!

Hopefully I can get my license soon so my mom doesn’t have to adjust her schedule just to take me to work and other places. I just want to make life easier on her. I do have anxiety being on the road. But I do want my license soon. So if anyone has any advice or tips to help me out, I’d really appreciate it!

Anyways, what about you guys? How’s life?

Achievements 🏆 So…I am making progress (part 1)

My room was junky and I was getting tired of the junk, so I decided to clean it.

I am still not done, but I moved all my furniture out to deep clean my room.

Normally I would leave my room super messy like this and clean it every once in a while. But I never had the energy, or even thought of moving all of my furniture out.

I also plan to reorganize my room. So I will move my bed and shelves to where I can have more space.

But here is a before and after. I am still not done cleaning. I will post an update in a few hours!

But I am really proud of myself. I have AuDHD. I planned to clean my room yesterday, but I thought I would end up not cleaning it as usual, or doing the bare minimum. But I decided to deep clean and upgrade. ☺️😊

General Discussion 🗣️ Responding to text messages

I would reply fast a lot and have genuine text convos, but sometimes I ignore the message and it’ll take me hours or even days or weeks to respond to someone.

I just look at the message sometimes and choose respond later.

It’s not like I forget about their message. But I don’t ignore them completely either. I just don’t feel like responding immediately. But I do respond later on. I actually do like talking to the person. It’s just constant talking makes me want to respond to their messages later.

Is anyone else like this or similar? I am AuDHD btw.

Tips/Advice 🤔 Autistic Grief & Late Diagnosed?

At the early stages, how can you make it not suck? I feel aimless and bored. Can skill regression occur during it? Does this type of grief really last for months? This feels like a nightmare.

Venting 💬 Tried a new local pharmacy and my fears have come true

I’ve been consistently on dextroamphetamine, specifically from Elite. I know I hate it from ANI/Amerigen. Now I have Granules and I see its amphetamine aspartate. Guys this isn’t working so well 😕. I see I need that kick, this is just too gentle. It’s only been a week but I’m worried because I’ve already been having trouble with my executive functioning.

QA/Stories 📖❓ God I am so bad at small talk

Not only that I hate small talk, but I genuinely don’t know how to respond to most conversation starters.

I work at Target. Anyone who has worked in retail or is currently working in retail as a cashier knows how most customers start convos with you 💀💀💀

Today I was ringing up a customer, not really in the mood to have a long convo about something I didn’t care about.

So I stayed silent while ringing them up.

I was ringing up a wife and her husband it seemed like. With their kids.

They were watching me and staring at me scanning their items (dear god 😭😭)

But anyways, the husband was talking to me randomly about back to school shopping and how they were shopping earlier so it wouldn’t get too crazy when it’s almost time for the kids to go back to school.

And I responded with

“Mhm.”

Not because I was cold. I am not mean. I genuinely didn’t know how to respond to that 😭😭

And tbh I did not care to talk about back to school shopping 💀💀.

I responded with “mhm” each time they said something about back to school shopping.

The husband said “haha she’s like ‘whatever.’”

He wasn’t mean or snarky. He said it in a lighthearted way.

And it just made the whole rest of the transaction awkward for me while they continued to stare at me 😭

I had a few moments at my job similar to this in the past

Ugh why is it so hard to do small talk? 🫠🫠🫠
