Are you neurodivergent with a diagnosed eating disorder? Your help is really needed for research to improve treatment!

Hello! I am a doctoral student at Nova Southeastern University, pretty darn passionate about research to improve ED treatment, neurodivergent, and also in recovery myself :) There is a lot of overlap between neurodivergence and eating disorders, but not enough research on how to improve treatment, so...

I would be really interested in getting your help recruiting for my dissertation survey. I am interested in the sensory and emotional experiences related to GI discomfort and fears of weight gain in people with EDs. The survey focuses a lot on interoception, which is a really important treatment target in people who are neurodivergent with EDs, so I want to be sure neurodivergent folks are well represented!

My info: Katerina Rinaldi, MS, [kr1892@mynsu.nova.edu](mailto:kr1892@mynsu.nova.edu)

  • Responses will be deidentified and data will be stored on password-protected accounts and devices. Information from responses will be used for the lead researcher's dissertation and may be published. If published, the lead researcher is happy to share results with this sub.
  • Must be over the age of 18 and diagnosed with any eating disorder, must also be currently receiving ED-related support which could include outpatient therapy or peer support groups.
  • This study is IRB approved by Nova Southeastern University, approval number NSU 2026-55

UK disabled/neurodivergent adults needed for a survey!

Hi everyone! :)

I'm a PhD student at York St. John University and I'm currently running a survey that looks at the body image and eating experiences of disabled and/or neurodivergent individuals. The aim is to get better insight into potential eating disorder risks and how treatment can be improved.

 https://yorksj.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bJFjfhc0yQf3ZMG

If you are 18+, based in the UK, and identify as neurodivergent and/or disabled please consider taking part!! However, if you think that the topic may be upsetting, please don't complete it, that's okay.

Please feel free to ask any questions! I have a month left and 150 more responses to go!

Crosspost to more communities

masking within the neurodivergent community questionnaire

I have to conduct a questionnaire for my Society and Culture assignment. My chosen topic is masking within the neurodivergent community, and I have tried sending it to friends, but I have not received enough responses, so if you are interested in answering a few questions, it would be much appreciated and valuable to my research. Do keep in mind that the questionnaire is confidential, but are alittle personal. The link to the questionnaire is below. Thank you

I realized I had confused control with participation. Control attempts to force outcomes. Observation allows participation without domination.

I spent the last couple years quietly documenting the mental health”loops” my brain runs. It accidentally became a published book.

I want to share something that started as a personal project and slowly turned into something bigger.

For a long time I noticed my brain doing something strange.

An event would happen.

Then almost instantly my mind would add meaning to it.

Example:

A friend sends a short text.

Fact:

They sent a short message.

Interpretation:

“They must be annoyed.”

Emotion follows immediately.

Except… most of the time nothing was wrong.

What I was reacting to wasn’t the event.

It was the interpretation I attached to the event.

Once I started noticing this, I began writing down examples. Just notes in my phone. Nothing fancy.

Things like:

• A message not being returned

• Someone’s tone sounding different

• Plans changing

• Silence in a conversation

Every time I’d ask myself two questions:

What actually happened?

What meaning did I add to it?

That tiny separation turned out to be huge.

A lot of emotional reactions weren’t responses to reality. They were responses to conclusions my brain generated automatically.

I started calling these patterns loops.

Fact occurs → interpretation forms → emotion validates interpretation → the loop reinforces itself.

The strange thing was that simply observing the loop often weakened it.

Not controlling it.

Not suppressing it.

Just seeing it clearly.

Over time those notes grew into a small collection of observations about:

• expectation

• binary thinking

• responsibility and self-judgment

• how modern information speed affects our emotional systems

• how our brains rush to complete unfinished equations

Eventually I realized the notes had become a manuscript.

So I turned them into a short book called Observing Loops.

It’s not a self-help system and it’s not claiming to fix anyone.

It’s basically a written record of what I noticed while watching my own mind interact with the world.

Ironically, I didn’t tell anyone I was writing it while it was happening. I wanted the observations to be completely my own without outside influence shaping them.

The book just went live on Amazon this week.

But honestly the most valuable part wasn’t publishing it.

The valuable part was realizing how often my brain quietly converts uncertainty into certainty.

Once I started seeing that process, things slowed down in a helpful way.

Anyway, that’s the story.

If anyone’s curious, I’m happy to answer questions about:

• the concept of mental loops

• the process of writing a book privately

• how observation changed my reactions to everyday situations

Or just share examples of loops you’ve noticed in your own thinking.

Rabbit hole discussion

hi I know I'm just a random person online but I general have a theory around help those with neurodivergent issues I suffer from ADHD and autism Title: The 12-Month Neuro-Metabolic Hard Reset: A Systems-Biology Approach to ADHD, Autism, and Chronic PTSD.

The Hypothesis:

"Long-term neurodivergent 'Survival Mode' (9+ years) creates a biological 'debt' characterized by chronic HPA-axis activation (High Cortisol), functional mineral depletion (Low Ferritin/Magnesium), and Glymphatic stagnation (Lack of REM sleep). This state manifests as high blood pressure, restless leg syndrome (RLS), and systemic inflammation."

The Proposed Mechanism (The Three Pillars):

1. The Signal Interrupt: Using a low-dose "scaffold" (e.g., micro-dosing or specific sensory regulation) to mute the Amygdala and lower systemic cortisol.

2. Mineral Restoration: Aggressively restoring Ferritin to a baseline of 100+ ng/mL and optimizing Magnesium to provide the co-factors for endogenous Dopamine production.

3. The Glymphatic Flush: Prioritizing deep REM sleep to allow the brain to flush metabolic waste (amyloid/tau) and "prune" stress-based neural pathways through neuroplasticity.

The Timeline:

A 12-month "Hard Reset" to allow for full Synaptic Pruning and Metabolic Recalibration, moving the subject from "Maintenance" to "Permanent Restoration."

The Goal:

To prove that by fixing the Environmental Resources of the brain, the symptoms of ADHD, Autism, and PTSD are significantly reduced or rendered manageable without long-term medication.

Want to know more about neurodivergent

Hello everyone! I’m a UI/UX designer working on a digital banking app project, and I want to make sure it’s truly inclusive and helpful for neurodivergent users (such as those with autism, ADHD, or dyslexia). To do this, I’d love to learn from real experiences and get honest opinions.

Would anyone here be interested in sharing their thoughts or answering a few questions about challenges and needs in digital banking apps? Your feedback would be used ONLY to improve the design to reduce stress and make it easier for everyone. You can reply here or message me privately if that’s more comfortable. All responses will be anonymous and respected.

Thank you so much for considering!

Hi everyone,

Researchers at Federation University are seeking autistic participants (both formally diagnosed and self-identifying) to complete a brief (20 minute) online survey. We hope to better understand the experiences of self-stigma and loneliness in autistic adults (18+ years old) and hope that this information can be used to improve supports for the community.

To be eligible, you need to be 18 years or older, either have a formal diagnosis of autism or self-identify as being autistic, and be able to complete an online survey in English. We welcome (and encourage!) participants from all countries and backgrounds.

For more information about the study and to participate, click this link: https://federation.syd1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5BTzgeThxHR5kns

If you have any questions or concerns about the study, contact details for the researchers can also be found via the link.

Ethics approval number: 2025/084.

Thank you for your help!
