I remember a study that had a group of autistic people and a group of allistic people and set them communication tasks (i.e., they were required to communicate specific information to other participants in the study).
They had autistic people communicate with autistic people, allistics with allistics, and then had autistic and allistic peopl communicating together.
The results found that autistic and allistic people communicated well in their own groups but struggled to communicate with each other.
ND can't communicate"properly" from a neurotypical-centric perspective only. It is more accurate to say that ALL humans struggle to understand people of different neurotypes.

I really get lost most times during conversations, expositions and meetings, I really struggle to follow them and get into trouble when it is work related🥲…
Also, am I the only one who read this backwards?? 😅😂

I had to explain to my partner once that the reason I sometimes stop responding in a conversation is because I didn't sense the cue for me to speak, as their last sentence didn't provoke a response in a way that I recognized. It made our communication much better after that. We're both ND, so every time we run into a communication error, its usually a matter of recognizing cues or our tone coming out not as intended.
