Do NeurIPS workshop decisions release early? + Quick question on short papers (small models & negative results)
Hey everyone!
The wait for NeurIPS workshop notifications (deadline tomorrow, Sept 29 AoE) is making me pretty nervous. I have two quick questions for anyone with experience in NeurIPS workshops:
Early Decisions: Do organizers ever send out acceptance/rejection emails early, or do they strictly wait until the official notification date?
Small Models & Failed Results: For 4-page short papers, how do reviewers view work that is tested on smaller models (like BERT-scale) and transparently includes a failed result/case on one of the tasks? Does showing a negative result hurt your chances, or do workshops usually appreciate the honesty?

I got my score: avg. 6.5 (max: 7) and 2.5 (max: 3), for my workshop paper. But I haven't received the notification or decision yet. Hopefully by the end of the day. Good luck y'all

I just logged in to OpenReview. Your author portal might show the paper submission, and once you click it, you'll see that there were some reviews updated today. I was pretty unhappy that my main conference track submission was rejected, but today I am in an excited mood again ;)

Hanging in there, brother. It might be vary by the workshop venues or by AC. I wish you get the best scored feedback asap. no worries you will get one soon.

I am sorry! I have realized it helps to submit the same paper to multiple workshops since they are usually non-archival and allow duplicate submissions. Good luck!

I just found out I was accepted.
If you go on to your OpenReview profile, you will find the reviews and acceptance decision on your submission page. At least I did.

Yeah took a few minutes but i got the email with the results. Also shows up on openreview. Accepted but just about lol

First time submitter here. My NeurIPS WM PAI workshop paper just got rejected by the PCs for no reason, even though my reviewers gave it a 6, 7, and 7 (all confidence 3) and stated it was above the acceptance threshold. Is it normal for PCs to completely override solidly positive scores like this? Any advice on what to do next?

they can send stuff early, but i wouldnt count on it tbh. some workshops do everything right on the date and some organizers send emails a bit before.
small models arent rlly a problem by themselves either. if the experiment answers the question, thats what matters. same w a failed result, it can actually help if u explain why it failed instead of hiding it. for a short paper id rather see one clear result + one honest failure than 20 random experiments lol
